Topic: RE: Revision from Sleeve to By-Pass

i am 3 months post op Sleeve to Bypass. I don't have diabetes so I can't speak to that. My revision was for the GERD. I put the surgery off for a year due to a family illness that needed my immediate attention. I was taking 4 PPI a day for the GERD. I am still taking 2 protonix. My surgeon is surprised as he anticipated me being off all PPI meds after 2 months. It has improved as I am no longer coughing and choking at night. I still have burning in the morning even with taking meds before bed. I am hoping thing improve. I am eating vey bland food. No caffeine.

My recovery was suppose to be 2 weeks. I was out of work for 2 months. I had some complications that I not common. I am also 63 and generally take longer to heal than most.

I was 6 1/2 years post op when I had the revision I had some regain and have lost 25 pounds. I wouldn't be concerned about losing too much weight. It is very different then an original bypass surgery. I lost 133 pounds with the VSG in 15 months.

The one thing that is different is I am developing food intolerances. Maybe not intolerance but changes in what I like to eat. I can't eat oatmeal, avocados or spinach, which were stables of my diet. This morning I made an egg with some broccoli and had to push away the broccoli. These I foods I loved before. I have a pretty limited diet due to another medical issue so this makes me a bit concerned.

I wish you all the best and hope the revision will resolve your diabetes issue.

Topic: Revision from Proximal to Distal .

I had revision from proximal to Distal on 1/16/19 Hiatal hernia repair,Ventral

hernia repair. The only thing that's bothering me is that I still have acid reflux about 2:30 am this past 3 days.

Before the revision for some reason I started to vomiting for 14 months every other day.

The doctor did not pay attention.Till one day he did a swallowing test in the office and saw the problem. I had him a lot videos of my vomiting.

I finally got his attention .

Has anyone had experience something similar?

please, let me know.

Topic: Have LapBand wanting to revise to Roux N y

Hi everyone. I have a lapband since 2008..im now feeling like I'm aspirating at night lots of heart burn . I'm able to eat a modified soft diet very little protein except in shakes. I'm scared to loose my esophagus to cancer or whatever due to this horrible acid reflux and whatever is wrong with the lap band. I haven't had it adjust for about 6 years I moved away from my surgeon. I've made an appointment to discuss option to remove lap band and have a Roux N Y done. Any suggestions out there..My appointment is not until February 7th, Thanks

Topic: RE: revision surgery in Mx

I had bariatric surgery in TJ and if I could do it all over again, I would definitely have surgery at Mexicali Bariatric Center. Do not let price be your main criteria. MBC is the best.

Topic: revision surgery in Mx

Have two options for revision surgery. Mexicali or Juarez. Mexicali is more expensive. I have read and heard great things about both facilities and doctors. Anyone here have experience with one or the other and want to weigh in on my decision making process. Thank you in advance!

Topic: RE: Coffee after surgery

I was told for every cup of coffee I drank I had to add in another cup of water to replace it...basically one for one.

Topic: RE: RNY Revisition (Band or RNY) OPEN?

Vanessa have you had any tests to confirm or deny the possibility that you've gotten a mechanical fail in there somehow?

Before asking to revise, please make sure someone has checked to see if your stoma has been dilated or you have something else physical going on up in there. Because if you don't, the odds of a revision being successful are pretty low. What failed you in the first surgery will fail you again in a second one. Unless there is something they can physically fix going on.

I'm sensitive to your feelings, I've regained three times since my 2008 surgery and my first regain was a bit over 60 pounds. The good news is that any regain can be lost, and if you've already gotten a surgery on board losing will be much easier than for a non-op. It's still hard, but we do have that advantage.

If you're stoma is stretched or something else has gone awry then yes, you definitely need to have someone fix that. It's just that those situations don't happen as often as you'd think and you're likely to be back on your own regardless.

There are so many regain posts on OH. You can search for "regain" or better yet "losing regain" and you'll find a ton of advice and help. There is also a subgroup here called "Back on Track Together". Not sure how active it is but you might want to check that out too.

Honestly though if it were me (and it was) I'd make sure there wasn't something internally going on first. Take care.

edited for atrocious grammar.
