Alcohol Question

I know that we are not supposed to drink for 3 reasons:

1. We can get drunk really quick.

2. It is a waste of calories.

3. The transfer addiction issue.

I don;t have an alcohol problem.... in fact, I don't drink but once or twice a year and might even stop that.

My question however, is this... other than the three reasons above, is there any other MEDICAL reason we should not drink? Can it cause anything bad other than the three things I listed above?

I need to provide advice to someone and want to make sure my bases are covered.

Thanks!

The only other thing I have is in the beginning you definitely don't nee the added stress on your liver.  When you are losing weight so quickly the liver is really working hard and alcohol just adds to that.

Other than the 3 great reasons you listed, there is a safety issue.  The studies have shown RNY patients get a blood alcohol level of .08 (legally drunk) faster and it stays high longer than non rny patients.  That means, never ever drink even one drink and then drive.  You could still blow legally drunk even though you feel completely sober after only one drink.
