Does your doctor require a liquid diet?  Did your nut. give you a list?  Your office really should have prepared you with some basic info.  Do they require chewable vits?

Every office does things a bit differently, so you should really get this info from your clinic.

Best wishes,
Laura

My surgeon gave me a list of things I can eat from week to week, so for now, I am stocked up for week one and two (my surgery is Wed).  I am on a liquid diet for three days pre-op (jello, water, juice, clear broth, tea/coffee without milk).  I bought everything at Target and the local grocery store.  You can price out your protein drink on-line, but I didn't buy a huge amount since I will only be on the protein drink for two weeks only.  So, you don't necessarily have to buy anything through a bariatric supply website.

Your surgeon should have given you a guide for what you need post op and the liquid pre op diet.  Did he or she do that?

Your surgeon would likely have some recommendations for you.  You need vitamins, calcium citrate, sublingual B12 minimum. I'd also recommend a dry D3.  Some supplements can be purchased from vitalady.com, like D3 and calcium citrate. Sublingual B12 are almost everywhere.  You could also get a variety protein samples from Vitalady, as she has a wide selection of individual samples. Get 2 samples. Find one you like before surgery, and mark the 2nd one to try after surgery. You may or may not like that flavor after surgery, so don't buy a large quantity of flavored proteins.  You can also get unflavored whey isolate protein and blend with bananas and SF flavors or berries for a smoothie.  Get some SF popsicles, as you'll want something you can chew soon after surgery.  You may want some bottled water, as 4 of these 16 oz bottles will gage 64 oz of water you want to consume (at a minimum) post op.  GNC is not probably the best store for bariatric surgery patients--they don't really know much.  Get a list of approved items for your liquid diet from your surgeon.  You likely have time to find a support group meeting prior to surgery. They can likely offer you some suggestions too.  DAVE
