Calorie Target
Hello!
Now that I am 14 mos out, I have stalled/stopped losing for the first time. I have been at 147-149 for the past 4 weeks. I know that this is normal, but want to make sure I am staying within my guidelines. I have been tracking every bite that I eat for the past week and have been staying at between 800 and 1000 calories a day.
My surgeon does not give caloric guidelines to post ops, so I am coming to you!
How many calories are you eating a day and how far out are you??

When I saw my NUT a month ago, she said I was eating too few calories & needed to up it from 800-1000 (too few) to 1200 (which was easier to do than I thought!). Once I get to goal weight, I'm supposed to up the calories again to around 1400. This is given that I walk 3-4x/week and get in around 80-100g protein daily. Keep in mind that your body may have a baseline weight that it wants to be at so that 147lb range may be where your maintenence begins. For me, at 5'3 and petite frame, 145lbs is my goal to be at "normal" BMI.

My doc has us shoot for 1000-1200 per day once we're a year out. I'm 10 yrs out and I've stuck to that number pretty much this whole time. I adjust it up or down depending on my activity level for the day. You may have to do that - but for most of us 1200 per day is the norm from what I've read.

- *12-18 Months After Surgery: eat 1200 calories a day (I ate 1200 calories a day until 15 months when I reached my goal weight)
- *18 Months after surgery (or when goal weight is reached before 18 months): Maintenance calories (BMR/RMR & Activity Level) (Malabsorption of calories lasts approximately 18-24 months)
- *I have been eating 1600 calories a day since 6/23/11 and I am still losing even though I don't want to (Goal was 141 and today I weighed in at 126.5)
