Sharp pain in upper stomach

The past two days I've had a sharp pain in my upper stomach just under my ribcage. It is pretty constant and a sharp, stabbing pain, although not incredibly painful. I haven't eaten anything since yesterday evening so I don't think its because of food. Any ideas? When should I call my doctor?--I don't want to be the one to call for every little thing! Thanks.

Callyour doctor......it might be a peterson hernia, it may be gas, but your doctor should know and you shouldn't have to suffer two days and that is it....call your doctor...I had the internal hernia one year out (peterson hernia) and it was fixed and now four years out I am ok....you need to call and let them know........
