I'm nearly 8 years out and pasta does it to me almost every time ...  I could maybe do a wet noodle in a soup but that's about it!

papaya enzymes wouldn't work anyways. they only work on meat not carbs. I'm surprised you are eating pasta already, I'm 7 months out and still not eating pasta, rice, or bread. Is is approved on your plan this early out?

Yeah, I've learned the past couple of weeks that French Onion Soup is not a good thing.  The cheese just gets stuck or jams things up.  Seafood (especially shrimp) causes similar problems.  Sometimes it's the foamies, sometimes it's the rest of the food coming up in small bits and pieces.

Well, if you get foamies every time you eat pasta. my suggestion is to stop eating pasta.  It's not the best food choice anyway.

I have definitely found after 5 months, as much as I want refined carbs, they are not our friend after surgery.  Pasta is the worse offender of the group.  Although I am not planning to cut carbs out of my life, my life is easier when I avoid processed foods.  I have learned to minimize bread and pasta and am just fine.

Good luck with those foamies.  I know how much they suck.  Eat really slowly.  After a while, you will find that balance that works for you.  I know I am just now getting to that point.

Drinking hot fluids helped some for me.  Hot tea,  decaf coffee.
Can't hurt.
Oh,  I remember those days.  I'm glad they are over.
