I talked to a friend who is a nurse today about the drain...

I told her my fear and how I had one in for 4 days and when it came out it hurt worse vs childbirth and I had unmedicated childbirth. So she said my skin adheared to it. So FYI if you are having a drain put in or have one (talk to your Dr first about this of course) but she said ask the nurse to turn it a couple times a day so your skin doesn't adhere to it. She also said yes the lubricant will help when it is coming out if they will do it. She said it shouldn't hurt it should just feel weird like you had mentioned here before when I asked about it.
She said think of it like a earring just pierced just keep turning it and it will be fine. I am scared of turning a long tube inside me so I am going to ask the nurse to do that if it is even possible. My friend is a head ER nurse at our hospital so I would hope she is saying this because she knows it can be done. LOL

I don't know about turning the whole thing... I would think that would be very uncomfortable... but that shouldn't even be necessary.  You should just be able to move it around just a bit where it exits your body just to sure that the skin is not adhering to it.   Unless she is saying that the tissue inside will adhere to it (but I have had lots of drains for various surgeries and have never had a problem or even heard of that, whereas I have heard of people who get some scabbing around the exit point).

I just had my drain removed a few hours ago, and it wasn't too bad. It just felt weird moving around in me. It was out before I even realized it and I feel SO much better with it out.

I agree it hurt like crazy to remove my drain.  I read on this forum that people say it just felt wierd, but what I felt was nasty pain.  Fortunately, the minute it is out, the pain in gone.

Of course we are all very different but my drain did not hurt at all when they pulled it out.. I had developed an infection of the large port site right above it so the whole area was very inflamed .. But the drain... Really did not hurt. It will all be good Michelle.. Don't worry :)
