Having my surgery in August :-(
So I started this journey to have surgery in May....well they didn't have my paperwork in to Ins. ontime but that was fine because June was looking better for me schedule wise anyway. Well I got a 280 speeding ticket, my mom is having surgery on her knee and won't get her full check so I am going to help her out with some bills for the time being. My husband and I were suppose to go to NJ and PA to visit family in August and he said this am look let's keep my leave in tact but I think you should have your surgery in August. We will know what financially we will look like at that point after helping your mom out and getting this dang ticket done....go to court on the 14th and I was told they will probably lower it. We don't believe in credit cards and if you can't pay for it you don't buy it. So he said by August we will be fine time wise and money wise so that is what I agree on too but kinda bummed. But not bummed like I want to go eat just bummed I won't be on the losers bench so fast.
I look at it like this...this surgery and recovery is going to be like a marathon so I have at least 54 days to get in shape physically and mentally and get my butt into the gym on a regular basis. So I have a new goal I was 288.2 at the beginning of the week I want to be down to 248 by surgery....praying I lose at least 10 in the liquid diet part LOL!

That's a big speeding ticket! I think my last ticket was something like $75. But that was some time ago.
I would be bummed too in your shoes but you're right, this is a marathon and this gives you a little time to prepare for it and in the grand scheme of things, a couple more months won't make that big a difference. What things are you going to do during the next couple months to get ready for your surgery?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I have to admit I stopped going to the gym like I was because I thought hey I shouldn't lift weight after surgery for awhile so let's take a break they will turn to mush anyway....so I am going to go back to Body Pump 3x a week. Go back to spin 5x a week and since they opened the outdoor pool do some water aerobics and Aqua tread and shred basically it is swimming laps with a trainer who is yelling at you to go fast, faster, slow down, go really really fast LOL it is all intervals but I love it.
Food wise I am going to eat like I would after gastric bypass protein first, cut out carbs, sugar, and moderation. I am inspired by Liza on the boards she is doing awesome before surgery and she said she is just eating like she had surgery so I will do that too. I have maintained over the last 6 months I need to get the scale going down.
I was doing 47 in a 35 mph zone they just changed the speed limit sign the previous month....I was having a great day with my daughter who we can't see eye to eye but this day me and her were having a great mommy daughter moment. We were singing to a Taylor Swift CD and having a blast. She was so upset I got the ticket I said for those moments with you it was all worth it. It is a road with farms on either side they are hurting for money here so they are lowering speeds all over the place. I was told they will lower it or I can use a thing called prayer for judgement where they will just wipe it out. You get one of those every like 10 years or so I was told. This is all new to me we have lived in this state just 6 years and I never had a ticket before.

Yes, it is disappointing, but you have the right attitude! Definitely do as much as you can in the next few months to adapt to your new lifestyle! I started working out (cardio and weights) 6 months before my surgery. The hospital staff was amazed at how well I was moving after my surgery....and said that it was likely due to the good core strength I'd built.
This too shall pass....and you wont be stressed about money while recovering if you wait just a bit.

I feel your pain. I started this journey in December, my insurance was cleared and all paperwork in by February but the Surgeon didn't have an opening until July. So, it could be worse lol. I had to wait 8 months, and 6 months from finishing the program. I have surgery in 26 days and it feels like I've waited years. Keeping up the motivation has been trying, but possible.
MIchelle, as always, you have a great attitude!! You know what they say: "Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% of how we deal with it !" Mine is tent sched for Sept. 5th, so you can tell me all about it while it's fresh on your mind !! The moment you were having with your daughter is priceless..... Enjoy your weekend !

I've been in this same predicament too. I started my surgeons WLS checklist in May of last year thinking I would be done and under the knife by June or July. I had almost everything done but then unexpected expenses came up and we too do not own credit cards so I had to put my surgery on the back burner. But it all worked out in the end.
Good luck on your 40 lbs in 54 days!!!
