I HAD to start this thread so I could tell you guys that this morning I went to my first training session with the triathlon training group!! WOOT! Drove to the beach early enough to get to the meeting spot by 6am and check-in. They did an intro of the orgainization, the sponsors, the board and then we went on our first open water group swim. Today we swam in the sound, so while it was choppy it wasn't the Gulf of Mexico! All total we swam about a 1/2 mile. There were folks faster than me, but I never quit or stopped. They would swim fast, stop and walk on the shallows, then swim fast... I just swam. Then we practiced beach entries 2 times and called it a morning.
Next week we'll do a swim in the Gulf and either a bike or run, or both. The weather last week messed up the schedule so not sure what next week will bring.

The rest of the day is napping, helping my mom and heading in to work.

B- preswim - WW waffle w/ 1 Tbs peanut butter
S - post swim - peach
L - taco casserole, lots of veggies
S - PURE protein
- cottage cheese and SF jello w/ fruit
D - tuna fish on an flatout, veggies
S - if needed, turkey pepperoni / cheese.. maybe triscuit crisps

I have not been awesome about my protein, exercise, and fluids so this post has inspired me to get my ass into gear!  I am stuck usually eating what I know doesn't make me feel sick which ends up being in a day, 2 small granny smith apples, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 2 string cheese sticks, and about 10 baby carrots.  At least every other day I force myself to each 2-4oz of chicken.  I am going to make sure I get my protein in today, my fluids, and go on at least a 6 mile bike ride.  I keep using work as an excuse because I am so busy, but that ain't going to change, so I have to change.

Thanks for the push!

LJ (I dont know your first name, sorry!): Im SO excited to hear about your triathlon group and experience, such an awesome thing youre doing!

I got up and forced myself to run 3.5 but it was tough. My legs are still dead from spinning/step and I think Im getting sick...tired and my lungs hurt and had a slight wheeze which is unusual.

I dont know much about eats today. Im falling into old habits (grazing and allowing too many carbs) so need to reign it in.

Pre-run: NSA apple sauce
Breakfast: Protein drink

The rest of the day is a big old question mark. We are going to a bridal shower so I brought a quest bar just in case I wasnt thrilled with the options.

Thanks!!!  It was totally obvious I was a newbie / non-athlete, but I never quit, and that was the goal of the day!

I'm glad you didn't swim in the gulf today! 3.5 ft waves already! Sounds like a good time and congratulations on keeping up with swimming!!

Breakfast was Greek yogurt with a sprinkle of sf cheesecake pudding mix, frozen cherries, and a sprinkle of pistachios....YUM!
Sipping on fruit punch protein powder with lots of water and sf Hawaiian punch berry. Getting protein and water in....a goal of mine!
Since its fathers day I got rib eyes for the hubs and made this 8 minute cheesecake that he loves. I jazzed it up a bit for me. We'll grill the steaks and veggies later. Also smoking a roast to snack on throughout the week.
Snacks will be cottage cheese and fruit.

Spending my day making more sugar flowers for that retirement cake next weekend.

Congratulations on your training with the training group :)

I had a bad fall yesterday on wood stairs.  My German shepherd ran between my legs when I was walking down and I fell back and hit my spine on the stairs.  I have a hematoma the size of a paperback and about two inches thick on my lower back.  We went to urgent care and I am on bed rest and pain pills until I go to my Dr. on Monday and have x-rays.  Just glad my husband came back from his TDY to Florida on Friday night.

Breakfast:
Syntax banana protein drink with PB2 and  espresso powder....yumm...my new favorite protein drink

Snack:
sugar free latte

Lunch:
Panera cobb salad with no dressing...probably about half

Dinner:
whatever my husband wants to fix

Have a great Father's Day.

 Oh awesome!  A triathalon!  Impressive!

My eats for today:

B - decaf with ff creamer and splenda
s - Lipton diet tea with citrus
L - protein bar, some Muncheez (spicy chip blend -ugh)

I'll have a protein drink later, might make it a double scoop instead of my usual scoop and a halfer.

Dinner - not sure.  Might make chili with some leftover shredded chicken, or might go out to eat mexican.  I'm making salsa today and probably some PB cookies for my FIL.  No worries.  I won't/don't eat them.  I'll have the kids run them and the card over later today.

My hubby gets a store bought triple chocolate cake.  No worries there either.

But put a dozen sf oatmeal raisin cookies on the counter and I'm in overeat hell.

Lori awesome job on the open water swimming! How big is the group? Practicing with groups for swimming is such a good plan, because those group swims can prepare you for the crowds and sheer turbulence at a large tri swim event. I'm so happy for you!

B. 2 eggs, turkey bacon, 1/2 banana
L. GF home made pizza
S. chocolate protein shake
D. Chicken salsa, green beans, coleslaw, NSA tapioca
S. hot chocolate, popcorn

Great day, been putzing and such. I went to the gym and swam laps and water walked...now I'm just tired...

Today was my first experience with group swim....  I sure had my work cut out for me in that brackish water trying to find my way around people!
There were at least 50 people, maybe more?  I was so beside myself with terror I didn't pay much attention.
They did have the newbies hold up our hands, then they did "roll call" on who had done more than 5 sprint tris, who had done olympic tris, and who had done Ironman tris.  There was even a guy who has done a double Ironman!
Fortunately, despite their "credentials" everyone was super friendly and helpful. I look forward to more sessions with them
