Diet check in, wheat bread question.

I am feeling good today. So far I've eaten roasted chick peas for breakfast, a protein shake after my work out, a hard boiled egg  followed by another half cup of chock peas. I am already doing well with my protein.

I am really wanting a thin slice of wheat bread? Does anyone eat whole grain carbs? I feel bad thinking about it. My doctor/nut never told me exactly what I had to follow and whether I should eat cabs in whole wheat bread. I do not eat pasta, not white bread. Any of the white carbs.y carbs come from fruits and vegtables. Is it OK to have a slice of wheat bread with pb?

I see nothing wrong with it, as long as you tolerate it OK.  Some people don't.  I have no problem with bread, though.

I am 19 mos post-op and have just recently started eating small amounts of bread, but the only bread I can tolerate is those whole grain sandwich thins or bagel thins, and even then they have to be toasted thru 1 1/2-2 cycles in the toaster. They have to be almost crumbly crunchy and I have to put cream cheese or peanut butter on them for moistness. If I eat more than about a bite of raw bread it gets gummy and I get sick. As far as dumping, I have not experienced it from eating the toasted sandwich thins/bagel thins.

I find that toasted bread is easier to handle than untoasted.  I have no issues with a little complex carbs now and then as long as I'm getting my protein in.

Now, it is easy to overdo them so I have to keep myself in check!

I started eating a half slice of bread at about 9 months out.  I have a home-made bread that is made from whole wheat and contains lots of walnuts and sunflower seeds, so it doesn't pack in my pouch quite the same way as regular bread.

My plan says there is nothning wrong with whole grain bread occasionally. Just a caveat, though... make sure it is "whole grain" and not just "wheat" bread or "multi grain wheat" bread.  I periodically have half a sandwich made from one piece of bread.  I can tolerate untoasted bread, but have to be careful to chew it up very well.  Toasted goes down much better (does not feel heavy in the pouch).
