A Poll: Still needing CPAP post op?

I despised mine, so I haven't used mine since surgery. Mine was programmed fairly low, and I was told not to use it for at least two weeks after surgery. By then I had lost @20 lbs and it seemed that was enough to be able to go without my machine. My husband is my gauge on that, the only time I would put it on was when he woke me up and told me to, and he hasn't asked.

I wish my doctor would tell me that. I don't think I need it anymore but I'm afraid that I will need another sleep study in order to get rid of the darn thing. I don't really despise it, but after losing so much weight, the contour of my face has changed and its hard to find a good fitting mask that is comfortable.

My pre-op sleep study definately qualified me for a CPAP but the dr told me to do a follow-up after I lost a significant amount of weight to see if I really needed it - went from moderate apnea to mild(almost subclinical) apnea and the dr agreed that I probably dodged the bullet!

I had sleep apnea pre-op but would/could not wear a CPAP because of PTSD. My sleep apnea was completely gone by the time I was 6 months post-op and down 100 pounds (of 185 total).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
