Day 2 of my new exercise program!! Yay for me! Boo for drivers! I promise I won't post every...
So, today, I went for a walk again. MUCH colder outside than yesterday, but really still a gorgeous day! I walked probably a block farther than yesterday and my calves and shins are feeling it. One good thing I discovered was how to use my radio on my phone with headphones. Wow...what a difference it made in my pace. I walked farther, faster! I'm looking forward to my next walk! Oh my, I can't believe I just said that! lol
My one complaint are the drivers that pass me along the way. I have always had an altered body image. Even when I was a size 9 (which was a VERY brief moment in my life), I saw myself as a size 24 woman in the mirror. Apparently, the drivers who pass me on the street have that same altered view of me! As I hug the side of the road, walking towards the traffic, the cars will swerve WAAAAY over to the other side of the road, almost to the grass along the opposite side of the street! Really?? I appreciate that it could be worse...they could make me walk into the grass, but gosh...move SLIGHTLY over.
OK...done venting!
Hope the rest of my day is as good as the walk!

Congrats on the new frame of mind for exercise! Yay you!
As for the drivers, I do that too, with walkers, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. I do it because I want you to know that I see you, I respect you, and I, in no way, want to make you think that I am going to hit you. I promise, I do it to all sizes of people. :)

You know, after talking with my husband, I think most of us do that as a safety measure. I'm thinking I'm still on this emotional rollercoaster and sensitive about EVERYTHING! lol
My poor husband is walking on eggshells, especially about food. I'm not really bothered, but he thinks that when he eats something that I can't have, that it bothers me. Maybe just HIS feelings projected onto me?
My daughter will eat foods, then tell me about how "not really that good" they are! lol Gotta love 'em!
I'm looking forward to being able to walk for a good distance, without my legs feeling like jelly afterwards.

I agree I go as far over as I can. No matter the size of the person. Having walked and run these streets here I know how scary it is for people to come close so I like to stay far far away when driving.

Congratualtions on your new attitude toward exercise. Keep at it and you will be able to go a little farther and faster each week. I started walking shortly before my surgery and could only walk at a slow pace for about twenty minutes. Now I am able to walk about fifty minutes at a 2.9 mph pace. My next big goal is to get to the point where I can walk a 5****ep with it and you can go far!!
