I didn't remember a thing. Really, you most likely won't ever remember it happening. They drug you up pretty well.
I was asleep. I told them they needed to sedate me really well or I would freak out. I have PTSD and told them I would probably have a flash back and it would be ugly if I was awake at all.
Didn't take long at all. I'd say I was out less than 30 minutes. Last thing I remember was my surgeon moving my hair out of the way.
Talk to your doc about your concerns, not your mom, since she won't be the one deciding how much sedative to give you.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I remember my surgeon saying good morning, then the next thing I knew, the nurse was helping me sit up and offering me some water. I slept on the ride home and for a few hours after I got home. Then I got up and ate something.
I've had two of them, and they both went that way. Easier than falling off a log.
My mom tried to tell me the same thing, and when I asked when she'd had hers done, she told me it was sometime in the late 80s. So times have changed. I don't know if your mom's experience was recent or not.
I fight badgers with spoons.
