How long was your surgery?

I am going in at 1220 for surgery arriving at 1020. We are leaving the kids home when they get out of school at 3-345ish. I figured by that point I would be out of surgery maybe not recovery and my husband can come home and get them or feed them dinner and bring them over. If any complications he is calling a neighbor to get the and give them dinner until he can get home. Just trying to figure out a ballpark time frame for stuff....my planning brain is in overdrive.

My surgery itself was 4.5 hours but it was a revision from VSG to RNY. I was in pne recovery room for one hour and then another for 2 hours then up to my room.

I believe mine was about 2.5 hours. I went in at about 9:30 and was waking up at 1 or so. My hubby said I'd been out for about 45 min. by then.

Mine was 5.5 hrs. However I had a large amount of scar tissue to be removed as well as my gallbladder. Good luck!

I was the first one on the daily schedule.  Surgery was @ 7:00 a.m., arrived at 5:00 and in recovery at 7:45, so 45 minute surgery.  I wasn't in my room until around 2:30 because they didn't have a room to put me in.

I had complications with the intubation process which delayed the start of my procedure for about an hour, but once it started it was only about an hour and twenty minutes. I had never had any abdominal surgeries before (other than a c-section)...and I think that makes a big difference.

You could always pick up a couple of Subway sandwiches and put them in the fridge for dinner, just in case they are there longer than you plan. That way they don't have to heat anything up...of course, I don't know how old they are so, they might be teens and perfectly capable of fending for themselves. You'll be fine! Good Luck!
