Okay so i had my surgery June 4th 2012, I am almost 1 year out and i have 40 more lbs to loose before i am at my surgeons goal, I guess what i'm looking for is i'm worried i'm going to stop loosing.

Is my surgeons goal realistic? he keeps saying he might push me (my goal) lower to the 130's (im 5'3 so he thinks it would be a better weight) and its scaring me. i just feel like i cant do it. like iv come this fair only to give up. i don't know where this is coming from

iv lost 130 lbs total and 89 lbs since my surgery. when you average my loss it comes to 2.2 lbs lost a week and i know its not super slow.. but i just don't know what else i could do to speed it up.

70 grams of protein a day and 80 oz of water. low carb/fat diet. (standard.)

i have been having some really bad pain so all i'm really doing for work out is walk, but my surgeon said not to push the issue until the pain is sorted out. i feel defeated and i have no idea why. i'm so torn.

I don't know if your surgeon's goal is realistic for you or not.  You don't have to agree with his goal or make his goal your goal, you know,

I will let you know that I am 5'4" and I got all the way down to 122, though.  I've gained a little back now, though.

You know you don't automatically stop losing at one year out, right?  many people keep losing for 18 months or more.

my Original personal goal was 160. My surgeon sort of shot it down and said i would still be "over weight" so he said 145 would be the absolute highest it could be if i wanted to be "normal" it kind of hurt my ego a little i guess. I Do want to be a normal weight but when my goal was 160 i guess it just felt more achievable. my new goal became his goal (140) now he is changing what he "feels would be healthiest" for me. If i went below 140 i sure as hell wouldn't mind, but if i didn't get there i would feel like i failed him and my self.

My surgeon didnt really set a goal. We discussed how I wanted to function "normally" which I thought for me would nye anywhere under 200 lbs.

ive set a lifetime goal that I think I can get to and maintain at 170. But I'm going to  be a HEALTHY 170. It's the lifestyle changes that are going to make me feel better and live Longer.

i try not to be ruled by that number on the scale! But believe me, I still feel the way you do a lot of the time.

Oh, and I'm 5'7"... So 170 would put me as still overweight according to the bmi chart. But I'm going to feel unbelievably successful from starting at a 53 BMI.

Good luck on your journey!:)

My surgeon won't set a goal for me. He said just to be healthy. So I am going to go by the BMI chart and shoot for 139 for my height. The scale isn't going to rule my life though the clothing sizes will. I want to get into a size 8 I don't want to be a double digit! So maybe set a goal that you feel is comfortable for you. Something that you feel is attainable. Don't feel like you let him down this is your journey not his!

Just curious if your surgeon took into consideration any extra skin you may have.  I don't even know if you have any, just something that popped into my head.

Excess skin, if it is truly just skin and not both skin and fat, actually weighs very little.  My panniculectomy removed a large amount of skin but it was almost exclusively skin and only weighed 6 pounds.  My "bat wings" were also sizable, but were less than a pound of excess skin apiece.
