OT Looking for employment but for reason other than just income..my Bento box!
Soon after my surgery, I rewarded myself with a Bento box for weight loss. This was in preparation for a new job, that I still waiting for...soon to be 6 months later! I've applied to nearly every job online, in my area, and have even applied to a few nursing jobs. After working as a nurse for nearly 30 years, I decided to switch directions and look for something that might be less stressful. Go****'s been a job just looking for a job! I've had a few interviews, but nothing so far.
Back to the Bento box :) I am just so anxious to use my Bento box!! I see all sorts of cute little lunches that are packed in these adorable containers, and I want to use mine! Sure, I could use it at home, for outings to the mall, daughter's sport/dance activities, or just because...but, I got it for work lunches and, by golly, that's what I want to use it for!
Please say a prayer, send good vibes, or whatever positive energy that you can send my way to help in my job search. The income would be very helpful, as well.

LOL-that's awesome that you're excited about your Bento box! I need to get one of those, too!! I would say try to enjoy this time! I am still on medical leave and I have to say-I am loving it!! It is so nice to not be going 100 mph all the time (like I do when I work).
Good luck! Sending prayers that you will get a job soon!
Pam :)
I have enjoyed this time! It's going on 3 years that I've been at home. My leaving work wasn't necessarily related to my surgery...it was more of a "need to leave this place or I'm going to jail" kind of thing! WAY too much stress and demands, that I was either going to curse someone or hurt someone...lol Either way, I'd lose my license. At the time, I was considering another nursing job.
Since leaving that job, I have truly enjoyed being at home. I missed out on so much, as I was working full time, going to school part time (cut back from full time school), and have a teenaged daughter...oh, and a husband who is more like another child most of the time.
Now, I can get my daughter off to school, with a healthy breakfast and a nice chat in the morning. In the afternoon, I pick her up and listen to her stories about her day...she's such a social little thing. I was so shy in school, it's amazing how different she is. When I was working all the time, I missed so much of her dance, volleyball, and other school activities. Now, I can be involved in all of those things.
So, in a way, I want to be careful what I wish for. We do need the income. It's been tough, going from two incomes down to one...especially with not planning for the change.

Good Luck finding that job soon and being able to enjoy using your Bento box!

As people used to tell me, don't just pray for a job, pray for the right job for you! I found a job 5 months after surgery, it's a start up and struggling so I'm torn as to whether I want to weather the storm or start looking for steady income and benefits (right now I don't have any). When this company makes the turn around, I know it will be a GREAT job....but can I hold out that long....pay has been delayed twice but finally came through. So, when it's the right job, you will know it. I love this job and the people I work for....but whew the worry of no insurance and having this surgery is alot. I've been getting nauceous alot more lately and that really concerns me....could be stress, a bug that's going around my son's school or something i'm eating......so I'm waiting it out and trying to watch what I eat and I track daily.
Hang in there, lots of prayers, I know things are going to be just fine!

That is so true. I was praying for a job...any job. Since looking for jobs, and applying at just anything, I've decided that exact thing...I must pray for the right job. Otherwise, I won't be doing what I was put here to do.
I adore children...helping them to learn and watching their excitement, as they learn new skills, is just so rewarding. In the past, my first priority was to make as much money as I could. Switching jobs to make more money...
Now, without having my income, and knowing that we CAN survive with less, I'm looking for a job in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood learning center. The thought of being paid to sing with, play with, or just be with children all day...that is just beyond joy! To be a part of a child's learning and development is enough of a reward, the pay is icing on the cake!
It could be your nausea is from stress. You may want to do something for yourself...if nothing more than a relaxing warm bath with scented candles. Or soothing hot tea with soft music. Those are things that I find helpful.
Good luck with your job and hope that nausea passes quickly!

Have you thought about doing Dial-A-Nurse positions or working for medical consultation? I ask because my mom, who's been an ICU nurse for 30+years, is considering a change of pace due to her severe RA and has applied for those types of jobs - - not much success as they don't pay very well compared to agency & contract work, but would be a good PT kind of position. Good luck though!
