No weight loss between week 3-4, post op.....Why????
I am 4 weeks post op. Have not lost any weight this past week....well maybe a pound or two. I was down 24#'s from Oct to my surgery date, now since surgery it has only been 13#'s. What am I doing wrong?
I probably know.....I need more protein, more activity........what about calories. I am only doing about 500 cals per day.
HELP!

Hey Natalie,
My second month was really slow for me. Actually for the first 6 months I lost big one month and slow the next. Remember your body is trying to deal with what has just happened to it, it needs some adjustment time. Stick with it, get your protein in and your fluids. Stick to the doctors order and you should be fine. I'm 10 months out and I eat between 500-700 calories a day.
Natalie,
My dr told me when I went for my 2 weeks post op appt to actually not expect to lose much between my 2 and 4 weeks appts. Since you start eating more "real" food and your body will start gaining some of the fluid it lost and continue to lose fat that things kind of even out and then you start losing again.
Your body has to catch up...it is losing weight faster than normal and as long as your are doing what you are supposed to...you will continue to lose.
Good luck!
Thanks to all of you for the great advice. The encouragement is very helpful. I talked to my Dr.'s nurse today and she told me to focus on my protein. I am only getting about 40grs in a day and should be getting at lease 60. I have not been doing my protein shakes since I went back to work 2 weeks ago, so I had one today (29grs), I will do better.
Thanks again,
Natalie P
