Colonoscopy
Hello Everyone,
I had my surgery Nov 2, 2011 and doing great. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy Monday morning and start to drink the dreaded Movipak mix to prep myself for the procedure/ My question is will this hurt me to drink 8 oz of movioak followed by 16 oz of clear liquid? I asked the nurse for the pills instead and she said no this is what they prescribe. I will not "blow my little egg up and hurt myself will I?

No, you cannot hurt your pouch with liquids. Just drink it relatively slowly. The worst that can happen is that if your drink faster than the liquid exist your pouch (which is pretty quickly), it will back up into your esophagus which feels a bit disconcerting but passes very quickly.

No, drinking 8 oz followed by 16 oz won't blow up your pouch. At almost two years post op, are you having trouble drinking much liquid? Usually by that point people are drinking pretty easily.

I have no problems drinking. I was concerned cause I thought the moviprep would blow my tummy up like carbonation would. That was my concern. I drink alot of water each day. Always carrying a bottle of water with me. I have not picked up a bottle of pop since the preperation for my surgery 2 yrs ago. Yeah me!!!
While I was successful in getting my surgeon to remove my gall bladder and also a port I had in my bicep (installed for chemo long ago), I could not convince him to do a colonoscopy while I was already cleaned out and under anesthesia. He said he never did any work that far below the waist! Good for you that you are getting yours done. Will you get one done for me while you are at it?

If it was possible for me to have one for you I would and save you the trouble of drinking that ucky stuff. :) I have to go back in 2 more yrs cause apparently I need wto days prep as one was not enough and it did not clean me out completely like he would of liked. They did find 4 very very small non cancerous pulps this time. O well back to the table LOL!!!
