At what point were you able to swallow pills?

Tomorrow I will be a week post op. Right away. Vit and calcium are chewable but other meds are pills. Did learn the HARD way not to pop two Tylenol at once. Thought I was gonna dye!!! Old habits are hard to break but I'm learning.

I was swallowing my thyroid pills right away.   They wouldn't give me my cymbalta in the hosp. but started swallowing it as soon as I got home.   I don't swallow anything larger than that unless I break it in half.  So far no issues.

Once I got home from the hospital I was cleared to, actually they had me swallow a percocet on my last day there too just to see how I was tolerating taking my meds. If it's about the size of a Tylenol it's fine to swallow whole, otherwise bigger ones can be cut in half (with the exception of extended release medications, but RNY patients shouldn't take extended release meds anyway).

The day I came home from the hospital...my pain meds were pills.

I could always swallow pills, right from the start in the hospital.

First day home. Just as everyone said, I have to cut the bigger pills to the size of an M & M. I tried the vitamins immediately after but at my post-op visit my surgeon told me I wouldn't have had to start them until the 4 week mark.

I was swallowing pills at 2 weeks post-op. I am the person that was 2 months post-op getting colace stool softener stuck lol now i am almost 8 months post-op on nov 5th yay and i am able to swallow upwards of 5 pills at a time.

As soon as I passed the swallow test in the hospital. Capsules whole, larger tablets split in half.

I was swallowing pills 2 days after surgery with no problems. :)

I started swallowing pills  two days post op. I swallowed two norco's. No complication.
