What's on the menu today, RNYers?

Happy Friday everyone! Here's hoping you've got a great day planned and a terrific weekend on tap as well. Since the husbeast will be working both Saturday and Sunday (boo projects and looming deadlines!) I've got to figure out what to do with myself and haven't yet come up with anything better than "work around the house". Ugh. Hopefully the weather will be nice at least; it seems like forever since we've seen the sun and had a decently warm day here. It's nice to get more wear out of the long sleeve tops that I've almost shrunk out of, but I'd happily trade them in for some short sleeves at this point.

The husbeast needed an evening out last night after hearing that he's basically an indentured servant for the next two weeks, so off we went to a Mexican restaurant. I didn't do so well, the chips were an irresistible temptation until I pushed them across the table and told my hubby "OMG, get these away from me!" I ate most of a quarter of a quesadilla and was full (poor choice, I should have gotten fajitas or grilled shrimp) so I didn't go too terribly off plan, but I need to get back on the wagon today. And surprisingly, after a week of no movement, this morning the scale shows that I've finally dropped a pound! Not taking that to mean I should eat tortilla chips more often, though!

So I have to go back in and edit yesterday's MFP numbers, but in the meantime here's today's plan:

The baked tilapia I did yesterday was SO good! Plain fish, simply prepared...heavenly. And so easy! I find that fish sits best on my pouch out of all the dense proteins I've tried, anyone else run into that? Although I've always liked fi****'s never been something I've eaten a lot of. I guess I need to come up with more ways to make it at home. I do wish I liked salmon, though. I just dislike the taste, even though I know it's so good for us. I wonder if I can "train" myself to like it with enough exposure?

Well, have a wonderful day everyone, and enjoy your weekend!

Edited to fix those snacks.  My calories are still a little high.  I am just over a year out, but I am a SSSLLLOOOWWW loser.  I have to keep my calories down to keep the scale moving.  I'm 48...I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Y'all have a great day!!

Good morning, N! For a year out, 900 calories a day looks pretty darn good to me! I hope I can maintain at that level once I hit a year. Even now I'm sometimes feeling like an 800 calorie limit per day is just not enough food. Not sure how much of that is head hunger versus real hunger, though. After looking at your menu for the day, I'm suddenly craving a coffee!

Some days 900 calories is more than enough but on others I have the bottomless pouch! lol I really go back and look at my week & aim for an average of 850 per day.  I LOVE coffee!!

NDHM, I am curious about the Starbuck's Iced coffee. Is this something you buy at Starbuck's or something you make at home? Just curious. I love coffee and am always looking for ways to try coffee and iced coffees. Thanks for sharing! Sara

I do both.  I love their iced coffee made in the store but it isn't always convenient.  When I make it at home though, I use the Starbucks Kenyan blend double strength.  YUMMY

So Trenta and Kenyan are part of the name brands you use?

Good morning Pam and friends! I was just lamenting the other day that I wished I liked any fish. I'm hoping to "train" myself as well.

Last night was the first time I put myself to the test when it came to being out at a bar. A good friend I hadn't seen in a few months (!!!) was unexpectedly in the area. I suppose we could have taken a walk or gone and gotten coffee - but ended up opting for the bar down the street. He had a beer, chicken fingers, AND fries. I had water (there was a hummus plate that looked like it would be an ok choice for me in the future but it was way to early for my dinner) and resisted the call of snatching fries off his plate. It felt a little awkward at first - but I just focused on catching up with a dear friend and it was fine.

Inspired by Kimberly K, we're about the same weeks post op, I ended up trying Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Crumbles last night for dinner with Eggbeater - OMG - they made me sooo happy! Something new and different and they tasted good, were easy on my pouch, and had good numbers!  I also made Turkey, Ricotta Meatballs last night, so going to try them out for dinner tonight - fingers crossed. Thanks for the great inspiration Kim!
