Absorbtion of MS Contin

I am in need of some quick insight! I am currently in the hospital for a total knee replacement. Surgery was yesterday and the pain is crazy.  The doc does have me on some good meds but he also started me on 15 mg of MS Contin  it has been my understanding that we do not absorb this correctly because it is time released. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance 

:( I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I wish I had an answer for you, but I'm pre-op. However, I'm really looking forward to the answers because I am currently on exactly that dose of MS Contin for my physical pain. I didn't realize that we can't digest that the same after surgery.
