I have close friends in Florida and South Carolina and. I do know it gets much hotter than here in the South. Maybe I wouldn't like summer as much if I were in the south. ?

All of us here have felt your discomfort. Just know that this will be the last uncomfortable camping trip you will have. Next summer it will be a breeze. I am 99 pounds lighter then last August. So, yes; Everything is easier when you lose the weight. Best of luck on your surgery. You will do great.

YES!!! I was you last year! My fiance and two sons and I went on a camping trip to the beaches of Delaware. I was a miserable sweaty mess. I remember showering, only to turn the water off and be drenched in sweat while trying to put clothes back on. I am 5 months out from surgery and went camping again to the same site at 4 months out. Other than my food choices being so much different than everyone else's, I was super comfortable! I even needed a sweatshirt when the sun went down and my family thought I was crazy. Everyone is right on the money...you're whole life is better after surgery. Simple things like being cold all the time, crossing your legs, and getting your picture taken will be things you'll be happy to do!

As everyone mentioned above, LIFE is easier after surgery!  It's amazing how many things are easier/better now.  I'm not at goal yet, but I experience so many NSVs...I can breathe better, I can walk long distances without needing a wheelchair, I can sit in almost any chair without worrying about not fitting into it or that it may collapse under my weight, I am one size away from Miss sizes as opposed to Plus Sizes, etc., etc., etc.  I love my new life!

We generally go on a week-long camping trip in the Spring & the Fall.  The Spring trip didn't happy this year because I was getting ready for surgery.  We have a trip planned for mid September and I am so looking forward to it.  I still have a long way to go on my journey, but I already feel so much better than I did on our last trip last October.  Hoping to maybe even do a little hiking this time!  I tried my hiking pants on that I couldn't even get on in October and they're fairly loose now - I'll need to wear a belt!  I'm about 2 1/2 months post op and already things are getting easier.

That's exciting! I have never been thin, but when I was thinner I used to love hiking. Really looking forward to getting back into that.

Before surgery, I was 337lbs at 5'5.  Summer was basically an endless sweat-fest.

I'm now down to 267, so I'm still pretty large, but I'm actually enjoying summer for the first time.  I still sweat, but it's like a reasonable, normal amount.  It's not like covering my body to the point where I can't stand it.  It's an indescribably good feeling to feel the heat of the air and be comfortable in it.
