Good morning, everybody. I forgot to answer the QOTD yesterday, and the answer is I am so cold. It started when I began losing, though, not just after surgery. I have a grey car with black leather interior and about three weeks after surgery I had to run an errand. On an eighty degree day I went out to my car that had been sitting in the sun, got in without rolling down the windows and thought to myself "its nice and toasty in here." It was probably over 100. I'm ready for a white belt and move to Florida.

Also, I always used to sleep on top of the covers in gym shorts. When I was cleaning out my closet I found that I had a whole dresser drawer full of never worn pajama bottoms with the tags still on the I had got each Christmas. Now I'm under the covers in pajamas.

QOTD 1: I have always loathed mayonnaise. I could make myself gag just thinking about it. I had heard that some people's tastes change after surgery I was afraid that I would wake up a mayonnaise eater. I didn't.

QOTD 2: No qualms about wearing a hat. But my hair is very short. Right now I am wearing either a blue or black coat so pretty much everything matches. There is a shearling coat in the Orvis catalogue that I want to get when I am at goal weight. Next year. The hats and gloves do not match each other though.

Nobody who has shopped with toddlers doubts that you set out to buy a shirt and ended up with a romper. If you had said you ended up pajamas, raincoat, menswear, etc. I would have thought of my sons and said "yeah, I can see that."

Good evening everybody. Late post for me, I had to run out to the sleep doctor's this morning. I never get used to the internal doctors visits. I'm just conditioned to sitting on the bed and being tested. Anytime they say to sit in the chair and chat is seems odd to me. The appointment was uneventful and I'm going back in 6 months to see if I will get off of the CPAP. I don't really mind sleeping with it but its a disastrous mess for my nightstand. Constantly sweeping things onto the floor.

I had my first chomps the other day. I thought of Janet when I saw it.

My knees held out, so off to the pool for another swim.

Hi Em. We are flying to Australia and cruising mostly around New Zealand departing and arriving in Sydney. Did you do the walk across the bridge? It looks terrifying to me. My wife wants to do it.

Once football ends I will only watch a few sporting events until next season starts (well except for my hockey tickets - but thats live)

So happy for you Cara. You have been absolutely steadfast in sticking to your plan. All the while coming here every day, unfailingly kind, to cheer on others.

At the risk of sounding like a party pooper, you don't have to post before pictures if they make you unhappy.

Good morning, everybody.

Again I stayed up too late watching football and now I'm dragging and running late. Only a few more NFL and no college are games left in the season. Quick post and then off to try and catch the 8:30 train. Otherwise I'm driving.

QOTD: We are going on a cruise to Australia and New Zealand in late December. My daughter will graduate from college and her brother from High school in 2020 so its an early graduation celebration for both. In May we are going to the Kentucky Derby.

Good morning, everybody.

Like a lot of people on here I lost a lot of weight in my late twenties. (Yay! obesity defeated) And gained it back afterwards. (uh-oh) When I was 27 I lost down to 219 pounds. One morning after a particularly strenuous basketball game, I was 217. I never got back below 270 until RNY. So, I'm trying to figure out when I was last where I am now. I know that as a high school senior (1983) I weighed 220-230 during football. My Junior year (1982) I was the same. I don't know what I weighed as a sophomore (1981) but know that I wore the same size clothes all three years of high school. Probably I hit 215 sometime during 9th grade or the fall of sophomore year. So I'm going to call it 1981. So, impromptu top ten list from 1981:

1) Betty Davis Eyes - Kim Karnes

2) Endless Love - Diana Ross/Lionel Richie

3) Lady - Kenny Rogers

4) Just Like Starting Over - John Lennon

5) Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield

6) Celebration - Kool and the Gang

7) Kiss on My List - Hall and Oates

8) I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbit

9) 9 to 5 - Dolly Parton

10) Keep on Loving You REO Speedwagon

So, 1981 was not a hard rocking year and I've been MO for a long time. In any case, I'm onward to the Carter administration. John Lennon was actually still alive when that song was released in the fall of 1980, but it didn't hit the top ten until after he was killed that December.

QOTD: Definitely, need to weigh and measure. Although I still have good restriction, I'm sure that I eat more when I am out. We went for sushi over the holidays and I was surprised that I could have kept on eating.

Breakfast: Eggs and Turkey Sausage

Snack: Protein Bar

Lunch: work luncheon probably chicken

Snack: Jerky

Dinner: Chili if we still have some

Have a great day, all.

Good morning everybody. I swam for 20 minutes yesterday and woke up with gout in the ankle that I used to push off the wall. Its so hard to believe that pushing is any more strenuous than normal getting around is. Believe me I wasn't swimming fast. Anyways, ankle gout is something that I can live with. When it goes to my knees is when it's a problem. I'm going to wait until Wednesday to see how I am doing. If it hasn't spread to my knees I will cautiously try swimming again. If it has spread to my knees I am think I going to have to accept that fitness is something that is going to have to happen after I stop losing.

Today is mostly going to be catching up on some work and watching the playoffs. Marilyn made chili yesterday, its super good.

QOTD: I use a paper journal and pen.

We have cruised a bunch also. If your Western Caribbean includes Mexico, I recommend going to see the Mayan cities at Tulum. It was pretty amazing. A few thoughts from our trips:

1) I always liked eating dinner with other couples/families. Its nice to meet other people and share what you did that day

2) Bring evening wear (tuxedo) even if formal night is only optional.

3) get your pictures done on formal night

4) try to pack in soft sided luggage so that your empty suitcases don't fill up your whole stateroom

5) get new nice batching suit if you are going to be at the pool deck

About 18 years ago we flew to Seattle rented a car and drove back to Chicago. I can't remember whether it was at Mt. Rushmore or Devil's tower but the whole area is surrounded by prairie dogs and you can watch them poke out of their holes.

Day four without cream went pretty good. I am starting to get used to it and don't miss those extra calories. I went over plan for calories by about 150 but it was mainly because of eating a little more meat than planned at lunch. That doesn't bother me too much and i'm still in range.

Good morning, everybody. I was in line at the gas station yesterday and happened to see the king sized candy in the baskets at the checkout register. I couldn't believe how big they had gotten. The Three Musketeers looked like baseball bats. You could use the Twix for self defense.

I bought the Everything but the Bagel spice at the recommendation of some on this board and its really good. I put it on cottage cheese.

Good morning everybody. Its the first Friday and the first weekend of 2019. I don't have a lot planned - Costco and Trader Joe's, getting my brakes fixed and hopefully going to the gym and swimming. I may swim in the therapy pool because it is warm. I know that is kind of wimpy but its sooo cold to be jumping in the cold lap pool. At least I won't be swimming laps in the hot tub.

Today is officially the 1 year mark of my first Bariatrics appointment. I think I am going to send her a note letting her know where I am numbers-wise.

Picture is at the Texas Bowl last week.

QOTD: Normally going to the gym at night. Reading also helps me to de-stress. But sometimes if having something not done is causing me stress the only way to get though it is to just buckle down and do whatever it is that I need to do.

Hi Daisy - did you see the video where they tried to pose the Texas bull with the Georgia Bulldog? The bull saw the bulldog and decided that he was going to flip him up in the air with his horns. The bulldog was way too smart (also smarter than whoever at the TV network thought they would pose together) for that and skedadaddled, so the bull ended up knocking over a couple of people and a table.

I lifted a lot through my 9 month pre-surgery period and I think it really helped me to recover quickly from surgery. The last time that I lifted was Thanksgiving break and two sessions on just the Cybex machines put me back on crutches. I don't know if it was that I was subtly pushing off the ground even with seated lifts and straining my knees or whether the activity just got more uric acid released into my bloodstream and it settled into my knees but I'm going to be cautious and start back with swimming.

Good question. My baritrician doesn't give number goals. If I ask her she says that her goal is that my health issues all resolve. Of course she is right, but.. She also continues to talk about a 12-15 month weight loss period.

I am going to try to keep losing. I set my ticker based on being a little lighter than my adult low. When I hit that in my late twenties i was a size 44 suit and 38 pants. Now I weigh less but I'm still a size 46 suit with 36 pants. So i have more abdomen weight and smaller legs than when I last weighed this range. I would like to try and get to size 42. I'm not sure what that would correspond to numbers wise, but it would be less unhealthy abdominal weight.

Have you been swimming? I am hoping to go this weekend if my knees don't get any worse.

Good morning, everybody. This stubby little week is rolling along. Today is day three of life without cream. Marilyn is going to take the Christmas tree down today. I will miss it, but its time. The light service will probably come and take away the outdoor lights shortly, but we aren't going to push them to do so. A few more days would be nice.

QOTD: Two questions today and I don't have much on either of them. Cooking wise I am very boring. If there is leftover meat in the refrigerator I microwave it. Very happy to have had surgery. Only real downside has been gout attacks in my knees from the release of all the uric acid that was stored in my fat cells. That is temporary, though. I find I don't get as many discussions at work about my weight as i expected (dreaded), perhaps because I am one of the bosses.

Made it through day 2 of back to basics. I can't say that coffee without cream was any easier on day two but hopefully that will happen soon. I drank it that way for years. Calories were a bit over 1000. I usually only weigh on Sundays, but I peeked at the scale early and was pleased with the result.
