Hey Lauren! I just could not decide between the RNY or the Lapband. After doing endless hours of research I decided on RNY (this was before knowing my insurance will only cover RNY). I saw it this way, I will be getting the RNY which after seeing my mom's results (she had RNY 5yrs ago and has not gained a pound you just have to follow the guidelines) I cant wait to get a date. But i was worried about the weight gain after a few years. but if that does happen there is always VBG (i believe im talking about the right one) were they go in and I believe lapband your RNY pouch? Its something like that. good luck and I hope everything works out for you. Kylie www.kylieswls.blogspot.com

Topic: need clothes anyone?
hey i had my surgery in december and now none of my size 26-28 clothes fit me anymore (no complaining here) but i would love for them to go to someone who needs them. They are really cute clothes, very young and hip *i am only 18* lots of girly stuff with sparkles and lots of pants/capris/skirts. i am willing to give them free as long as you can pay for shipping. it does not matter to me if you are having surgery or not, i know how hard it is to find and afford clothes that are plus size and still cute. email me and let me know! good luck everyone. I will be getting either the lap band or the VSG. The VSG is where they make your stomach smaller, but no re-routing of the intestines. I've decided on those two. BUT will NOT do an RNY. In the long run I don't find the RNY giving you a healthier life in the long run, but that's my own opinion. I just dont see taking pills for the rest of your life a good thing. Good luck with your search. BTW: My insurance covers both procedures. Good Luck!! By the way a study shows the lap and rny equal in weight loss in 2-3 years.

Topic: one year
well its been one year since i "found" obesityhelp.com. i was going to use it to help research info on wls... and i turned out using it as support and well, help for my obesity. with the help and support from this website and a few special posters i have drastically changed my life for the better withen the last 12 months. i have started college, got a job... and quit a job, and met some beautiful people who had used wls to their advantage in gaining the upper hand in their lives, all directly from this website. because of the knowledge and support i gained from this website i have gone from an 18 yearold 420 pound boy to a 19 yearold 220 pound, healthier, fitter, and more energetic man.. of some sorts atleast! so this is my thank you to obesityhelp.com and my hopes are that many more people can find this haven of kind hearts and open arms. your friend, coy.

Topic: RE: Teens with lap band?
Hey Nichoel, I was very interested in the lap band when i started my journey. But in the end I found out it wasnt right for me and my insurance would not cover any WLS except RNY, so I am in the middle of my journey, Next appointment (march 10th) we will be telling my doctor (after she told me to sit down and talk it over with my family) that we are ready and wanting the surgery IM SO EXCITED! Good luck with the lap band and I hope everything works out. Keep me updated and tell me how it goes!!!! BTW: I'm 16 too! XO, Kylie
