Topic: RE: nausea after 5 weeks
I am four weeks out today and I am nauseous when I wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning too. I can't even think about getting anything down until around 9-10am. I wake up at 530am. I saw my doc yesterday for my one month post op visit. He wants me to take my nexium as soon as I wake up. I don't know if that will help. He gave me Zofran whick I put on my tongue and let it melt. It's hard to take when I'm so nauseous and it's not working. I would give your doc a call. Mine doesn't last all day  though.

Topic: RE: 22 days out.....whats the problem? Or is there?
Hi

I am currently 22 days post a lap VSG

I feel well and am walking each day approx 2 - 3 miles .
The first week i lost 14lb
second week 8 lb
but 3rd week nothing..infact at one stage i went up 2 lb

I am sticking to the diet and as i said am a lot more active than i used to be

have been advised to get some protein supplements and make sure i am taking enough ...

have to say when you have been sticking to the diet and excercising it is very frustrating and demotivating not to see results on the scales

You can use the above to search by zipcode.  There is a surgeon in Evansville but it is not a center of Excellence which most insurance companies require and is a sign they meet a minimum standard for that certification.

You need to travel 100 miles for a center of excellence.

The code for VSG is SG and this is not the VSG board, you stumbled on the VBG board.

Topic: 1 year surgiversary VBG to DS WOOO Hooooo!!
Well its official. I year ago today I was recovering from my revision from a 22 year old very failed VBG to the DS. I have lost 142 lbs and i am 59 lbs from my goal of 153.(My PCP says thats too much, but 153 seems like a lot to me now... LOL) I started at 354 lbs and today i weigh 212. I want to lose 201 lbs when I am finished.
Not too shabby for a "golden girl" revision. I am 54.
I am the smallest i have ever been in my adult life. I weighed in the 220's when i was in high school 40 years ago. I have gone from a womans size 32/34 to an 18.  No insulin. blood pressure meds, c pap anymore.
Unfortunately time and gravity has done much damage. The "girls went from a 48DD to a very flat, floppy 40C. My body looks real weird with the shelves (for want of a better description) of fat and "shar-pei" looking skin. Also my incision healed weird so I have a lop sided muffin top panni. There is a horizontal fold that doesn't meet where the vertical cut is. Sorry to whine but it really looks strange. My face has dropped and I look haggard. I always thought my fat face was kinda cute. (sigh)Please understand,  I am grateful for losing the weight. I guess I will have to get over the other stuff.
I do not have buyers remorse. I don't have poo issues and gas only bothers me when I mess with white flour. I wish I had this tool instead of the VBG but I am grateful for this second chance.
I do  my DS. It is very friendly to African american culture (food). I do not feel deprived at all. I love my dreamfields mac and cheese, cheesey grits, pork (bacon oh yeah) in every form etc. I am grateful for all the encouragement and wisdom from this site.
peace mz jojo

Topic: RE: hoping some vbg's are still out there...
Hi!

I had a VBG in April 1984.  I have managed to keep off around 90 lbs. I have developed Barrett's Esophagus due to GERD and am waiting for insurance approval for RNY. This is not a revision to a weight loss surgery, but a procedure to deal with Barrett's Esophagus. B.E. is a precurser to esophageal cancer.

I am rather anxious because I have had such a limited diet with the VBG, and will have to learn to eat foods that have made me sick for the past 26.

There are several surgeons in the Dallas area that have excellent, all inclusive prices AND they fit the budget that you have. PM me and I will be glad to tell you more.

I am going to Dr. David Kim in Colleyville, Texas.  His surgery cost is $12, 300 whi*****ludes everything from the initial consult to the end of the first year.  I have surgery on March 8.  My experience so far has been quite good. I am also self pay, I understand the struggle. Best of luck!
