Four years after surgery
Thanks for being so candid. I appreciate your honesty. I just had the sleeve last week and I know the time will come when I will struggle just as your have. Right now, I feel dedicated to this life change. I don't want to ever eat another cookie or tortilla. I don't want to be one of those that says "it's okay to have a cookie every now and then" or "everything is okay in moderation". I am an addict and I can't do moderation. Right now, I am full of conviction. I hope in time this stays strong and does not falter, but I recognize reality and know it probably will.
Once again, thanks for your post! Congrats on your success and rededication to the wls process.

Damit Janet! That was a great POST. (A little Rocky Horror ref. My daughter's name is Janet and I've got a brother in Medford - so there's a mini-connection, I guess.)
Anyway, wifey and I just got back from our daily 3-mile walk in our hilly neighborhood - puff, puff, but not like it was 100 lbs. ago (gasp, gasp). I'm still in the 6-month window post-surgery but have lost the same co-moribities that you had. Life is getting better every day for this old (65) guy.
I learned a great deal about the entire program from a support group I attended pre-surgery. It helped me understand that everything you said was important to being successful. My attitude is that I'm on a medically supervised weight-loss regimen for 12-18 months. Mindful eating, accurate and honest measurement of input and daily exercise (no days off) have been keys to my program. I don't mean I'll stop the program at 18 months or when I hit my goal, it's just that I want to maximize the benefits I can achieve now.
Again, thanks for sharing your story, it so good to hear candid reflections from the veterans.
