A New Challenge

Today I had the joy of completing a stress test and pulmonary function tests.  I had so many electrodes and wires hooked to me that I looked like a science experiment.  Who knew that it would take pedalling a bike at 50 mph to get my heart rate to 170?

Anywho... after that torture was complete, my surgeon's insurance specialist asked to talk to me.  It turns out that my insurance has changed requirements for WLS as of March 15th.  I now have to do a 6 month diet instead of 3.  Guess I'll be waiting until August to have surgery.

The journey continues...

Well that just sucks big time.  I'm so sorry that it happened.   My advice is to research and study and learn all you can.   I didn't have to do any pre op classes and i think it would have been good if i had been told to do that pre op.  I wasn't as prepared as some of the people i see on here and i think i would have done better if i had been more prepared.   I just want to say that whatever hoops we have to jump through in the end it will all be so worth it  :o) Jeani

I had a 6 month diet too but my dr cheated..since I had seen him everymonth for 3 of those months he just put down my weight and that he had counseled me so I only had to do another 3 months.  It took those 3 months to get my other stuff done plus I had a serious auto accident in there and that extended things out a month too.  All in all it went by pretty fast.

I had six months too. check with your insurance because 6 months just meant 6 visits for my insurance, I thought I might need a 7th visit for a weigh in for the sixth month. Also you can shave off your time if you move each visit a little earlier in the month

That's what I am doing, Stephany!  I started out in January, like on the 20th, and each month I have moved up the appointments a little bit.  I should be done on June 3rd!  I hope they don't catch onto that and make me go another month!  ugh!  It only says once a month, not the same time each month!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone.  I am disappointed, but taking it well.  It's not like I got to this point overnight... so 3 more months isn't devastating.  I'll just use the time to try and get more in shape and develop healthier habits.  Anything that makes the post-op period easier!
