Do you feel mentally unsatisfied with your meals?

Lindsey....Sure does make sense!  It's a good feeling to be able to be full with a very small amount so I am sure in time when I can have a 2-3  oz serving I will be not only feel full but as satisfied as I felt with a 1/2 cup of pureed soup.  Congratulations to you as your doing really well!!

I really hear you, there are times when I see a beautiful dinner and I know I can only have a little bit of it, that I miss being able to eat the whole thing.  However, most times I am totally satisfied now, and believe it or not, there will be a time when you will wish you had all of your restriction back.  I can eat A LOT more now than I could just a few weeks or even months out.  Sometimes I get a little scared when I see how much I can eat.  At those times I just switch back to dense protein for a while and the restriction is still there.  You are going to have to work on the head hunger, it becomes so much more obvious to us after the surgery and the real work is all about getting a handle on our "hungry brain".  Hang in there, it gets easier.

Elina I have no doubt about later on wishing to have the restriction.  I just look forward to being able to sit down to a meal that is at least 3 oz.  but I know that will come in time and I will be able to have the veggies.  I am grateful for my progress so far ,  that I am sure of!

I had a babybel light cheese today for lunch and I was totally satisfied and felt comfortable afterwards not full but satisfied. They are 1 oz. so  It all depends on what I am eating and where my head is at that time.  I'm grateful I don't have cravings that will get me in trouble........although I better knock on wood before I jinx myself because it's obviously changing.  Other thing that I think influenced these last couple days is it's about my time and we all know what happens during that time.  I'm hanging in though.......thanks

I so get this too. Last night, I made dinner for a family gathering. A beautiful standing rib roast, brocoli, baked potatoes, a fruit relish, and home baked bread. The table looked beautiful, the meal splendid. I ate one bite of bread (the size of a small olive), a small slice of the beef, 3 bites of brocoli. I managed to eat about 2 oz of the beef.

On one hand, I wanted so much to eat more of that brocoli --it was from my own garden !!! I wanted to savor more of the beef...but I told myself that I would have it for lunch tomorrow...and dinner again... so, yes.... sometimes it does get frustrating...but then I look down, and see the slimmer outline of my legs under the jeans, how much closer I sit to the table, how much room is left in the booth when eating out....and I am satisfied.

Those are all great NSV's. I've actually had a couple of my own this week. Bought a dress a size smaller....and I used to have a belt extender in my car and I don't need it anymore and can pull it out a couplenches while it's connected! So I am very HAppy about that. Haven't been out to eat yet but I look forward to easing into a booth. Glad you at least tasted your homegrown brocoli!

I so understand where you are. I too have been frustrated with the amt I can eat. I, like you, can only eat a small amt unless I spread out my bites. I find if I take a bite and wait a while to take another one, I can eat more. The faster I eat the less I eat. But I also have to be careful to finish within 30 minutes. I too want to keep chewing and tasting the food. I know if I take another bite it will be too much but I want to keep chewing and tasting. I too know its head hunger. I hope and pray that we both can be content with our restriction so that we can continue losing wt and learn to appreciate what we can eat because I know I fear if I continue to lust after the food not eaten I will get fat again. I will pray for you and in time God wiling we will come to peace with out new lives. Thank for your post! I truely have been feeling the exact same way as you! COngrats on your wt loss so far and keep up the good work!

Your doing awesome too!!  Tonight I actually enjoyed my meal!!. I had half of a chicken sausage and a tablespoon of swiss chard and a tablespoon of sweet potato.  It was delicious and I was truly satisfied. The chicken in this sausage was pureed before it was put in the casing and I think thatis why I was able to eat 1/2 and also have the veggies and be satisfied.  It was such a nice change from the plain chicken breast and I also think that the chicken breast I had those 2 nights was just too dry even though it was moist if that makes sense.  Anyway ....thanks ......and I know we will work through it.  It all takes time!!

I actually don't BUT, I have learned to trick my mind. I use very small dessert plates (they're pretty too, bonus!) and that really helps. There's nothing sadder than a big giant plate with a tiny bit of food on it *grins*. Having that little mind trick really has made a difference. Because the plate is smaller, it looks like a lot more food than it really is.

I don't really have to play that mental game any more but early out I did. Physically, I was perfectly satisfied but fitting my mind around the smaller food amounts took some extra work. It IS odd, when you think about it. Now, it's just how things are. I don't even really give it much thought since it's my new normal. You'll get there eventually too.

I still use the smaller plates, though just because *grins*
