I have been very open about my weight loss surgery. With friends, family, aquantiances…. even the mail lady! This morning when I woke up I had yet another friend post on my Facebook about "my surgery." She is my cousins ex-wife (Brittneylinn, tell Tay its his "ex-stepmom!!!!) and is thrilled that she found a Dr who takes her insurance and does the sleeve. This is my 8th friend/aquantiance who is now getting a sleeve!!!! It amazes me! I wish I had known about this sooner but really, lets be honest…. the sleeve does not get the press that the band and the bypass do and it seems people are in love with the idea of still feeling "normal or natural" as they all tell me. Everyone says the same thing, "I like that it just makes your stomach smaller and does not mess with anything else." I am so happy to see so many people happy and  looking into changing their lives as this surgery has been a life saver for me!!! Wooo-******g-Hooooo!!!!! I am a big believer in the idea that there is no one weight loss surgery that is right for everyone and that what ever works for you and makes you comfortable is the way to go… its just so nice for me to see friends who have struggled with their weight for so much of their lives find a surgery, like I did after soooo long that makes them feel comfortable enough to look into it more. I looked into the bypass and band in 2007 but after a little research ran the **** away and chowed on a few more pizzas and burrito bowls. Hence my member date being so long ago even though I just had surgery in 2011. Yeahhh for foxy roxy my little lovely sleeve and all of you my awesome OH friends who went before and whose posts made me ask myself "what the **** is the sleeve and where the hell can I get a shiny new one of my own???"
Yeah for healthy, skinny and skimpy~

I love it Jenn...8 firends, that's a lot of people that are changing their lives for the better.  I am also very open about it, but my friends seem to be scardy cats at the moment.  Maybe they are waiting to see if I gain anything back before they make the permanent change.  I'm as determined as you and also ran away screaming when I researched the band and bypass.  I knew those were not right for me.  Sooooo happy I found this board and it pushed me over the edge to do the right thing for me.  Keep on talkin' and good luck to all your friends who are taking the journey!!!

I have been open about WLS and the sleeve, and I have had more people look into and decide that is for them, not the band or the bypass.  They all felt the way I did about the bypass - dont rearrange my innards please!!!  Its hella cool that we can share the wealth about the sleeve!!

I totally agree Jenn...so many people have never even heard of the sleeve.  I like to  "pay it back" and tell people too...especially ones that you know it would change their lives.  Good for you for helping to spread the word.
Saw Dr. W yesterday...he was great .  we had a nice chat.  Hope you can go to the meeting on Wed...I am for sure.  Would love to see you.

That is awesome, Jen!  I've started to be more and more open after surgery but I couldn't even change this one girl's mind from getting the stupid lap band!  You must teach me your secrets!

I like the part when you said.....

the sleeve does not get the press that the band and the bypass do and it seems people are in love with the idea of still feeling "normal or natural" as they all tell me. Everyone says the same thing, "I like that it just makes your stomach smaller and does not mess with anything else.

That was the reason why I chose VSG.  " confirmed! "  and I totally love my decision.
