11 days out - feeling blah

I'm 11 days out, getting my water in but struggling with the protein.  I feel tired, weak, gassy and just overall kinda limp.  I am sure it's at due in part to the lack of calories & nourishment.  But it's really crappy to feel like this when the weather is nice and it's a holiday weekend.  I keep waiting and waiting to feel good and energetic.

I am really tired of the protein shakes.  I need them to be rather thin to get them in ok and that just drags out the process of drinking one.  So I've been using isopure, milk and soup to get me through.  But those are wearing on me too.  I start pureed on Wed which I am looking forward to but also scared about.  I know I won't be able to eat much and that scares me a little at this stage.  How will I ever get the protein in?

I'm not hungry or thirsty, but I'm forcing the liquids so I don't get dehydrated.  It feels like a full time job right now.

Sorry for the bleak update.  I know the first two weeks are the hardest.  I just really hope and pray that it gets better at that two week mark.  Sorry again - just looking for encouragement I guess.

Yep. It'll get better. Keep focusing on fluids - getting as much protein as you can. Move as much as you can - that will help with the gassiness.

Thanks for your support.  I took a 45 minute stroll this morning.  Sipping now!

Im three weeks out now, and it definitely gets a lot better. I have been eating about 70% of my protein from food, so I don't have to have many shakes, so puree stage should provide some relief. Just choose high protein food - chicken/tuna, greek yogurt, etc.

I'm starting to get my energy back. I can manage a 30 min walk on the treadmill, so I'm definitely doing better than last week. I think if i got better/more sleep, I'd be doing much much better, but ehhh.

Thanks!  I have some canned chicken and tuna in my pantry ready to go.  Plus some greek yogurt in the fridge.

Are you back to work yet?  If so, how is that going?  If not, when will you?

It does get better hang in there.  I started to feel a lot better when I got to start my purees and vitamins.  Pick up some carnation breakfast essentials.  You mix a packet with 8oz of skim milk or I mix it with my lactaid fat free milk.  It tastes just like chocolate milk and it is much thinner then protein shakes and was a lot easier for me to swallow, etc.

I tried to find the Carnation but my grocery didn't have it.  I'll have to look elsewhere.  Thanks for the idea!

Have you returned to work?  If so, how is that going?  If not, when will you?

Yes I went back to work last week.  It is going good.  Last week was more of a struggle.  I was borderline dehydrated and didn't know it and had no energy and was still sore.  But I managed.  I think it is important to be able to have enough time off of work to get used to sipping and purees, etc.

Carnation is in the breakfast/cereal aisle.  I purchased mine at Target.

Oh my sleeve sis. I'm right there with you. *sigh*
I have now developed violent cramping, gas and diarrhea every time I drink one of my shakes. This takes me out of the hydrating game for a couple of hours.

I am sick to death of all the broth, crystal lite and wondering wtf I have done to myself.

I thought I would bounce back like everyone on here seems to do but I am just not. I still have to take pain meds to sleep

Sorry to be such a debbie downer and threadjack you but know I feel the same way too!

Boo!

It's so comforting to know I'm not alone!  I thought I would bounce right back and be a sleeve champ, too, but not so much in reality.

I am sleeping ok other than some itching, but the gas returning is a mystery to me.  It had been gone for several days and now it's back.  It's like the Terminator or something.

Hugs for us!
