I'm actually not sure I'll be adding the DE to my green smoothies. I'm still looking for answers about the NON-DE ingredients first. Can someone give me an idea of the measurements of the ingredients so I can do a little homework? Also, should I expect leafy chunks in my smoothie if I'm using a good ole Osterizer rather than a juicer to grind up the greens?
Thank you in advance Viv, Doc, others... Craig

I started with adding just a half teaspoon food grade D.E. to my regular protein shake...I figured that if it would help my insides, hair and skin, that would be great.  I think the very first time, I added less than that amount...like 1/4 teaspoon...just because I didn't know what to expect!  The formula I used was a variation of the basic recipe I saw on line that said: 1-2 ripe bananas ( I used 1 small); 1/2 c of another fruit (I used pineapple because of the bromelin for arthritis); 1 1/2 c fresh greens (1 handful spinach, which is reccommended for "newbies" because it has a milder flavor); 12 oz water (I substituted 6 oz pineapple juice for 6 oz of water)...my own comments are inside the parentheses.  Nutrition:  banana small 90 cal, 23 carbs; 1/2 c pineapple 38 cal, 10 carbs; spinach 7 cal 1 carb; 6 oz pineapple juice 100 cal, 24 carbs; with the pineapple juice substitution, the carbs were a bit much, but the rest of my food for the day was only protein...will try it without the juice tomorrow!  I will also be changing the fruit (green apples or kiwis, peaches or even strawberries) to see what I like best.  I did like the pineapple flavor.  It's all one step at a time...I don't know about the Osterizer, tho...I didn't have a blender at all when I got the Vitamix.  Best wishes,  Viv
