Two Questions
I have been feeling really good since my surgery last Thursday. I have two (pretty small) issues that I wanted to get some input on.
1. I hit the wonderful "liquids in, liquids out" point yesterday. I think it's probably WAY better than constipation, so I'm not complaining! For those of you who have experienced this, do you have any tips on caring for the "exit" so you don't have a sore bottom?
2. I have awakened to a headache the past couple of mornings. I have actually been getting in my fluids, so I don't think it is dehydration. I have been monitoring my blood pressure as well, so that's not the issue. The only thing I can think of is perhaps I'm getting my liquids in too early in the day and need to drink more closer to bedtime?
Thanks for any insight!

Those flushable hiney wipes work lovely for the liquid in; liquid out stage.
As for the headache, I'm not sure, I had headaches, but it's because I didn't wean off caffeine before surgery so I'm fairly sure that was my source of headaches.

AMEN for the soft flushable hiney wipes!!! They work wonders for the liquid in / liquid out stage.
As for the headache - I noticed I have been getting/fighting off one the last couple days. I too have been consuming my fluids and eating so I am wondering if say for me it might be the change in weather. It has been rather kind of crazy here 90's one day and rain the next.
I do know I do go over my fluids because I do drink before bedtime to take my iron etc, so maybe if you try adding more liquid in it might help. My theory is a extra liquids cant hurt too much.
Hang in there!!!

Your diarrhea might be due to lactose intolerance ~ very common after a VSG. Not to worry, it should be temporary! But try taking dairy out of your diet for a few days to see if it clears up. Worked for me. I even had to switch from a whey protein powder to a whey protein isolate powder, which is lactose-free.
Hate to tell you this - but I've had chronic diarrhea since my surgery - and that's 4 months now.
I also developed hyper thyroid - so my doc and the specialist both think that's what's causing it.
I've been on medication for two weeks and it's JUST now seeming to ease up.
However, if it doesn't work, I'm going to try the lactose free diet and see if that's what the problem is.
Also - it was suggested I picked up CDiff in the hospital, but I don't have any of the other symptoms.
Good luck in figuring out the cause and fixing it! I'm rooting for you!
