Hard to swallow
I am 4 weeks post op and I am hard difficulty swallowing mushy foods. it feels like the food sits in my throat and chest. When I finally get it damn I am burping and feeling like I dont want to take the next bite. This is happening with everything I eat.
tuna salad
cottage cheese
eggs
soup
pureed foods
mashed beans.
i am passing gas and having bowel movements(TMI Sorry) so I know there isnt a blockage. I am at my wits end. I am starting to think was it worth it. If you have went throw this or are going through it now please offer me some advice and encourgement that this is not a permanent thing.

It was like this for me if I tried to eat faster than I could at the time (at a month, it would take me 40mins to eat 1-2 oz or less of food) and if I took a bite bigger than I should..at a month, a bite was the size of the eraser at the end of a pencil.. this is not a forever thing, just an early-out thing.
Try eating much slower if you aren't, and try taking tiny baby bites if you aren't already. If you are getting this feeling even with liquids, you may wish to get checked by your surgeon to make sure you don't have a narrowing (called a stricture).. even a minor one can cause this, but at a month.. the chances are much higher that you are just swollen and are needing to ease up a bit.

Hi, I am 7 weeks out and went through the same exact thing. I even threw up a few times bc of the food getting stuck, even if I had like 2 tiny bites. I had a scope done on Wed and they said where my esophagus and stomach meet is still very swollen. Over time it has gotten better and I can eat a wider range of foods. Don't worry, it will get better. I would contact your Dr though, in case he wants to do a scope to see whats causing the problem.
My guess is that your esophagus and stomach opening are still pretty swollen. Tiny Tiny bites, wait in between and make sure that you aren't drinking too close to eating or too soon after. Certainly wouldn't hurt to call and ask your doc if you can take anything that might bring down the inflamation. Work on your liquids more than you mushies to make sure you are getting enough nutrients but make sure you keep trying those mushies.
