Is 100+lbs lost possible with sleeve?

So, is it possible for a 5'5 person 38yrs old weighing in at 265lbs to get the sleeve and lose about 120 pounds? I have heard that you don't lose as much with the sleeve vs RNY. Just wondering.  My surgery is 2 weeks away, and scheduled for RNY but have thoughts of changing to sleeve.
Thanks

Yes you can. There are lot of people on this board that have done that plus more. It is almost a year for me and I have lost more than 100. You just have to follow the diet and excersise.

I'm 5'7" and thirty-seven years old. I've lost 120 pounds in less than nine months. When I went to see the surgeon at 6 months, he said that his sleevers are rivaling the RNY'ers results. I don't regret having getting the sleeve AT ALL. I never considered RNY.
Good luck on making your decision.

I am no expert as I am preop but the sleeve leaves you with a normal functioning stomch which is so important in the long run. Also there are lots of posts about how the malabsorption of rny only lasts for a couple of years. Plus, if the sleeve really didn't 'work', you would be better off with a DS and the sleeve is the top half of the DS. Lots of info on the DS board and DSFacts.com also. Good luck with your decision!!!

I'm 2 months and 6 days out and I have lost a total of 53 lbs as of today! So . . . I would definitely say that 100+ lbs loss IS POSSIBLE w/the sleeve!

As my surgeon says, your tool is what you make of it. If you will use the tool according to the rules as designed, you will have success.

Uh...  yes, LOL!  I'm 5"7", and 134.4 today, so exactly half my all-time high weight, and about 112 lbs down from my "consult" weight. Took about 11-12 mos. And 60 years old when I had surgery, so a whippersnapper like you should lose weight faster than I did!

It's possible to do that with any of the WL surgeries .....

It's mainly about you and your commitment and compliance ....

On the same token..... many fail with any of the WL procedures.... not one of them is fool proof....you can eat around any of them.

That said......

Understand that all sleeves are NOT created equal. It is a non-standardized procedure. If you want the best statistical chances..... you need to go to a great VSG surgeon that has the results and data to back-up a high success rate.

Personally.... I lost 190lbs. in 13 months and have been maintaining for over a year now....

This is a post from Elina_7 the other day that sums it up pretty good !

You will find that very little about this surgery is standardized.  The size of the stomach is not standardized, nor is the food plan, or support offered after surgery, or just about anything else.  Even the surgical technique, testing and vitamins after surgery are all different.  Of course, the results are all over the board too.  That is why we must all choose our doctors with the greatest care.

SW 338lbs. GW 175lbs. Goal in 11 months. CW 148lbs. WL 190lbs.
