I CAN DO THIS!
Hey everyone I am getting sleeved on 12/20/2011, got insurance approval on Monday, and started the 2 week liquid diet Tuesday....dang this has been a ride.
I was wondering if anyone that is currently on a CPAP machine has experienced any excessive belching in the middle of the night...i am woken up 3-4 times each night to release the gas build up in my stomach and its starting to make me nervous about after surgery if the gas will rip stitches?

I didn't experience the issue pre-op. I had surgery 12/5 and my doc wanted me not to use my CPAP the night after surgery because of the added pressure. I have decided not to use it for at least the first 7 days because I am having to sleep in my recliner and I don't want my dogs jumping on my abdomen in the middle of the night.
It is hard not to use it because I am afraid I won't wake up but I want to be sure the staple line has plenty of time to withstand any additional pressure.
Good luch whichever decision you make.

my husband uses a cpap and he was getting alot of gas until he started sleeping on an incline and used a "ramp" pillow. as long as your head is higher than stomach it will decrease gas. also if you have a nasal pillow/mask and don't use a chin strap you could be opening your mouth and letting in air.
