Not until you are cleared at 4 week post op nothing more than 10 lbs. or can damage sleeve or hernia.

Treadmill ok, bike, walking.

I started back with weights after about three weeks, cutting things in half from what I had been doing pre-op, avoiding anything that tickled the abs or core, and used machines to isolate the different muscle groups from the core. Doc didn't want any ab/core work for twelve weeks.

1st support group/seminar - 8/03 (has it been that long?)

I started working out after my surgeon cleared me at four weeks. And when I did start working out I was very careful for the first month, and then started to increase the intensity and weights gradually. Be gentle with your body at first as it is healing even though you may feel like you can take on the world.

Every surgeon is different. Mine told me I could do whatever I did pre surgery as long as it didn't hurt.

About a month after surgery--light at first. I waited until I was eating normally and regaining my strength and had seen my doctor at my one month appt and was cleared. Just be careful and listen to your body. Try to have a protein shake right before and a protein snack for recovery after.

Preop I didn't have to worry about that; postop it may make the difference between walking out or being carried out!
