Hi Peeches,

I will be praying that you get your approval this time. I remember how up set you were when you got the first denial and wanted to appeal. I hope that the 4 month supervised diet will be enough to get you that approval.

Hi, I see that your doctor is in NYC and that you have Emblem Health(same as me), I don't know if you also have BCBS for hospitalization as I do too. First, I wish you the very best of luck- I was just sleeved this past Valentines Day (paperwork submitted 1/17 or 1/18 and I was notified that I was approved on the morning of 1/20, so it was very fast. ) My BMI was 38 or 39 and I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and have had asthma(controlled) for about 20 years. I complied with lall required tests(cardio, gallbladder, labwork, pulmonary, sleep study) and appointments(psychologist and nutritionist), as well as the required 6 month weight monitoring by my primary doctor. I  also was  very nervous that I would be denied (wasn't obese enough and didn't have serious comorbidities) but I was approved. I'm sure that your surgeons office has experienced bariatric coordinators who know what to look for and how to present your documentation; basically I want to assure you that approval is not only possible but likely, and  wish you all the best. Please let me know if I can help in any way.
