Sleeve or Band

 Hi everyone,

I just became a member of this site.  I met my surgeon today for the first time.  I'm on the fence between the band and sleeve?  Can I ask for experiences?  I'm leaning toward the sleeve.
Any comments or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My surgeon is considering not doing any more bands because they have so many issues.  They are not meant to last a lifetime (crazy, right?) so keep that in mind.

I love my sleeve and would do it all over again.

I choose the Sleeve and am having great results. How ever the sleeve is a life time comitment and a life style change. Ive lost 35 lbs in 6 weeks. My friend has lost 30 lbs in 18 months with the band. We went out to dinner on Sunday and I ate 2 shrimps 1 chicken wing and a few bites of green salad and I was stuffed she had an entire cheese burger fries an ice tea and still had room for a few bits of funnel cake.

Good luck

There are way to many problems with the band.  Many people on here have gotten their bands removed and had revisions to sleeve.

Sleeve is going to be the new standard surgery soon if its not already my surgeon told me today.

My surgeon won't do bands anymore either.  Do you want permamant weightloss ? Band eventually gets removed .  Lots of health problems with the band.

If you want to have a miserable life choose the band. I regret to this day the choice of a band, it was my biggest mistake in life. Please don't even consider the band!!!!!!

I got the LapBand 4 years ago. I had a slipthat required surgery to fix, two years out. Since then I have had very erratic restriction, and poor weight loss. I was able to revise to the sleeve. I am only two weeks out, so, I can't compare the two tools yet.....but, I don't recommend the band.
