As a newbie I too have found this message board troubling. I thank you for your valuable input and I will look forward to reading your posts again soon. Best wishes :)

I am so sorry that you are feeling burned out right now. I've been a member and daily reader of this forum for about a year, soon after I met with my surgeon re VSG and have followed your posts, along with many other vets who are "heroes" to me. I just had my surgery this past Valentines Day so I am still basically a newbie, but in the 10 months between meeting with my surgeon for the first time and my actual surgery( and all of the tests, support groups, etc required for insurance purposes) I made it my business to become as educated and informed as possible about this life changing/saving major surgery that I was about to have. I'm fortunate that I have great insurance that covered all aspects of my surgery (except my co-pays of $15-$45) and a surgeon whose office offers support groups, a nutritionist, and a comprehensive before ,during and after plan and whose practice is located within a hospital designated as a Center of Excellence. Your posted experiences, along with many of the other Vets on this forum, have encouraged and helped me greatly. From my highest pre op weight to today I have lost a little over 60 pounds and from the day of surgery to today I have lost over 50 pounds. I credit that to my great surgeon, a his comprehensive plan(which seems to be the same as many successful vets on this forum) , my willingness and readiness to make the required changes (I was a soda/carb addict before surgery! ) and the help of many of the great Vets on this site. Although I am still a(almost 3 month out) Newbie, as a 1 year Vet of this forum I do understand what you mean about the troubling trend of "excuses, validation seeking, misguided opinions, questionable surgeons/plans, etc". I hope to see you back soon, and much continued happiness ,health and success!!

I read your posts every chance I get even though I'm not sleeved yet so I don't respond with what I'm eating even though I've been doing a low cal low carb for months. I've been on here for several months through this process and have my nutrition class next Tuesday and surgery June 8th. I'll miss reading your posts and hope you come back soon. I've learned so many good things here that I've successfully lost 28 lbs because of people like you and that's before my surgery! So please know that you're a great help and inspiration and you'll be greatly missed. Come back soon!!!     Gale

OK, friend, have a nice break and get refreshed.  Put your own oxygen mask on before helping others, that's for sure!!

Sometimes I get discouraged, too.  I hope you feel better soon and can come back!  Thanks so much for all you've done.

I've only been reading a few months and I definitely see your point ..... I appreciate your wisdom and worry about losing the collective wisdom of the vets here .... Hopefully you can recharge ... Thank you for all your contributions!
