Looks like I'm one of the rare ones *****ached 100% EWL on a minimum of 1200 cal/day.  At 3 months post-op, my surgeon gave me the ok to raise my caloric intake to 1200 because I started excercising regularly.

I'm at the high end of a "normal" BMI of anywhere between 24.0 to 24.9 on any given day.  And I'm very comfortable here!  I've been overweight ALL of my 52yrs  and know that my skin (at least what's visible!) won't be as forgiving if I lose anymore.

I've maintaned 153-157 lbs since last September.  My gym offers a monthly weight/body comparison.  My average fat mass is 18-19%...normal for my age group is to be under 30.  So thankfully, I'm still a success story at having 1200cal/day since my 3rd month post op.

You have done fabulous !!!!!

When I first started here on OH there was a term used that said "You can argue with me, but you can't argue with my results" and you got the results !!

Thanks for chiming in.... People get the impression that I'm a follow my way or no way kinda guy.

I'm a get to goal kinda guy (whatever goal is to you) It gets very depressing to see people not get it and fade out......

I made friends with a person here on OH very early in her WL..... She went at it differently.....she wasn't looking for suggestions and I had non for her cause she was making the numbers!!!

I was more of a cheerleader and cheered her on all the way to goal !!! It was fun to see it.

Again congrats and thanks for speaking up.....without your POV we don't have a disscussion.

Im staying between 500-800 calories, however when I talked to my nut yesterday about a stall that Im on, she logged into my fitnesspal and she told me I needed to up my calories to 1000 and not worry about carbs.. she told me my body was going into starvation mode and gonna hold onto everything.. I dont know, Im very comfortable at those calories.. I have lost 50 pounds in almost 14 weeks...I have started to notice some hair loss...

I'm just confused because my NUT told me from the beginning 800-1200 range. I always stayed at the 800-900 range but at 8 months I have stalled for several weeks. She told me I was in starvation mode and need to start getting 1000-1200 a day and its tough doing but so far it has worked. I'm afraid to stay at this range though because I find myself being more hungry because my body is used to more food and I don't want to stretch my sleeve. I prefer 800 but I don't wanna stall. I walk 2-5 miles 4-5 times a week and now I"ve started doing zumba and other aerobic classes so would I need those extra calories or stay at 800??? I've never heard of 600 after my liquid phase though, would probably be too hungry for that

 Hey Cozmo,

I upped the calories for about a month (at first with healthy food, but regressed with crappy eating habits).  I started the preop diet  of 3 shakes and 1 light meal (total under 800 but has lots of protein) and it was no problem to drop back down again.  It can be done.  I absolutely found at the higher calories I was actually hungry more- stupid carbs or whatever did it!

Alison, if Ryan wasn't such a likable guy I would start an anti-Ryan fan club of some sort. I cringe everytime he posts his weight loss on MFP. 5 pounds lost, 7 pounds lost... 7 pounds lost AGAIN!! WTH???
Just kidding. Ryan is the perfect example of someone determined to make the most out of this journey. We do admire you Ryan!!! It's just hard to take sometimes. (J/K)

Great, lets all bash on Ryan again. LOL.. Wife said if I keep losing like this my new name will be skeletor... I sure hope not. HAH...

Kind of scares me and I really hope it starts to slow down. I wouldnt mind if the last 15 came off in 3 months unfortunately I dont think that will be the case. Maybe I should go to McDonalds and get a Bagel Sandwich...  I keed, I keed... :P

That's great Ryan but i ate between 600-800 cals 80grams protein and 20-30 carbs a day still do at 9 months and i  lost about 1 pound a week.  It's definitely different strokes but now at this point in my journey, where i may have lost 100% of my EWL (I still have over 20lbs to lose but I've set my goal at 105 when i notice most female posters at 5'4 set their goals higher, so calculate that as you will) my fear is that i will end up like a considerable # of the vets who have lost 100% but are in maintenance mode on 1200 calories.  That would truly be a nightmare for me.  I have always been able to lose weight, and even keep it off, once for over 10 years but the idea of living on 1200 calories a day for the rest of my life is being on a diet for the rest of my life.  But at this point increasing my calories will probably stall my already excruciatingly slow weight loss, so it's a dilemma but i do believe i have wrecked my metabolism and if I'd done a higher calorie losing plan I'd have had someplace to play around.  I think no one is ever going to tell a newbie that getting it off quickly may not be the best way but i do think that now when i look at the road I've taken i had of thought of it as a lifestyle, not just the behavior but the journey and that while losing was of course important, what then?
