Gastric Sleeve and the P90X Nutrition Question
I've lost almost 90 pounds after my sleeve procedure on December 28th. I've gone from walking two blocks to hiking 10 miles. Next week, I want to tackle the P90X. I've researched it and think I can do it, though I may have to go through a couple of rounds before I'm at the intensity that the video runs.
My question to you concerns the nutrition portion of the program. Does anyone know anything about it? Can it be adapted to meet the needs of someone on the sleeve? It involves a lot of supplements and specific amounts of proteins/fats/carbs. My nutritionist says to make sure I get 80-100g of protein while on it, but that was the extent of her advice.
The nutrition portion of the P90X is written in a small book, so I really don't have the space to give all the specifics in this post. I'm hoping to reach out to people already familiar with the program and tap into your advice and knowledge.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Tony

I don't have the answer but I do know it's free to join the forum at beachbody.com and I bet someone there would be able to answer it. My fiancee got a coach when he joined.
I've been wondering myself but want to wait a bit longer before I try to tackle that.

Protein is your friend. It is for VSG and it is for P90X. 100g would be where I'd stay and I think that's where Tony has you. He has you on more veggies than we will be able to eat so that is where the supplementation of vitamins will come in. Now there are two different plans. One to get lean and one to bulk up on muscle. You'll obviously look at the leaner one but doing P90X while you still have a fair bit of fat will be fine. IT might get more difficult once your down into a leaner body mass and you may have to look at "weight gainer" stuff, but for now you'll be just fine.

I am doing P90x exercises. My exercise physiologist told me specifically to not try and do the entire program or to try and do it on their schedule. She's right, it's the toughest thing ever.
I also just threw away their nutrition guidelines. First it's just to sell their own products. Second, they are not designed for bariatric patients.
The P90x is a good program, but use it wisely and cautiously. Don't push yourself to do things you may not be ready for or that may be too intense.
