Slider foods.

I have sure noticed that my definition of slider foods has changed band vs sleeve.  However, chocolate, crackers and chips are on my list, for sure.

I haven't even attempted those, yet.  I am trying to avoid them!

It seems that most anything that isn't a firm meat (or a seriously fibrous vegetable - just finished an artichoke and nothing sliding there!) can have some slider quality to it, which can be good or bad. I can have quite a bit of salad (6-7 oz or so) - spinach, tomato, avo, peppers, broccoli, etc., including a couple ounces of meat and that fits comfortably in about the same way as three oz of meat. I don't mind that at all as that's a lot of essential nutrition at a minimal caloric cost. Similarly, a lot of meat/veg dishes like chili or cacciatore can be somewhat slippery but nutrionally dense and low in calories. Likewise a lot of fruits are somewhat slippery, needing minimal stomach processing. In maintenance, this is simply one more aspect of the sleeve as a tool to be learned and manipulated to get the nutrition and calories needed for long term stability.

Calif, that's interesting that you can eat a lot of salad.  I have a very tolerant sleeve, the only things that have upset it are vitamins on an empty stomach and ... salad!  At 14 months out, I am only just now able to eat a little.  At first, lettuce just sat heavy in my stomach.  Now I can eat 2-3 bites, but more than that makes me feel bad.  (I can eat cooked veggies just fine, and most raw ... just not lettuce!)  How weird is that!

Goes to show how much variation there can be between us all. I haven't done much lettuce, preferring from the outset to use spinach for its better nutritional profile, but have had a few nibbles of lettuce salad in restaurants without any issue (mostly just a taste, as I don't need it competing with the entree for stomach room!) but I have more recently started back with smaller entree salads and they seem to work well. YMMV.

I'm only 5 months out and haven't tried many things that I figure will be sliders, but I have tried popcorn - oh my - no restriction whatsoever!

Peanut butter was a problem for me to control pre-op so I know it will be a slider. I don't plan on bringing it into my house. I may try it if I'm somewhere else with no chance of taking a spoon and cleaning out the jar

I hope to be able to eat nuts, almonds especially, but won't try those until I'm on maintenance.

A slider food is generally a food that does not close the pyloric valve.

The pyloric valve is just about the single most important function one should understand for successful VSG eating.
