Exercise question

I do strength training every other day, I was told not to work the same muscles twice (my strength is whole body). On the off days I want to start taking classes because I'm getting bored with what I'm doing now, so would it be ok to do strength one day and body pump the next? Body pump is pretty much a class that uses barbells and stuff. Thanks
i was told to do differet stuff, at the gym we have persional trainer, she told me to work different muscles, and it takes 48 hrs to recover from a work out.. i do abs 1 day and do arms and legs another, and sometimes i jsut do cardo.. i was going to curves but i was having pain in my legs so i cant do that anymore. good luck do waht you enjoy
If the body pump does work with barbells, that is just more strength training. I'm no expert, but my understanding is that your muscles need 48 hrs to heal between workouts, so I would either do the body pump and count it as strength training or do something else on those days and keep my current regimen.
Good luck figuring out a plan that works well for you... this is a challenge for me right now!

Bodypump is intense. I mean, there's no way you can work out everyday and not utilize some of your muscles daily. My T band is growing like the Hulk and I've only been doing legs twice a week. I try to do only Cardio the next day after a class with weights. I try to do something everyday. my body isn't really to a point where it needs "confusing" but I'm sure I'll get there. Right now it's confused by the fact that it isn't planted on the couch but moving around so much.

I have found that if I drink enough fluids and consume enough protein within 1 hour of working out or running that my muscles recover a lot faster. If I don't I can tell right away because my muscles simply will not work.
I just take a day off when my body says it needs more recovery time.
I have found that walking on a treadmill or outside on those off days fills in the time, burns calories and still allows my muscles to recover.
As time went on I was able to do more with less recovery time.
Now I run about 4-5 miles, 5 days a week and do simple free weights 3 times a week.
Hope this helps.

Now that you mention it, I have noticed my muscles do the same thing if I dont drink/eat right aftter working out. I cant use the treadmill or run because of my plantar fasciitis- its really bad in both feet. I am currently doing 30 mins elliptial and 30 bike, but I am getting so tired of it already. Thanks for your answer!
Are you interspersing cardio with strength? That has been what I was advised by my EP. I run every other day, then strength train and cross train on the off days. I then take one day a week as a rebuild day - which I may need to increase to 2 days.
