I'm looking for opinions on whether changing things up really helps? I typically stay around 700 calories and 20 or less carbs a day. My weight loss has slowed to a crawl...which I expected, but I'm really anxious to get off this last 20 pounds! Thanks, guys

The last few pounds to goal seem to be the ones that really mess with us.  It takes forever.  For me, I lost more when I stopped stressing about it.

I had to take a really hard look at my goal and decide whether or not it was realistic.  I wound up revising my goal weight twice - once from 171 to 185.  I always lnew that 171 was never going to be realisstic.  Then I revised it from 185 to 190 and started trying to maintain there.

What helped me most as I started transitioning from WL to maintenance was realizing that goal was not a single number that I then had to maintain at for life, but a range.  I set a number that I will not let myslef go above without adjusting, but I try to keep at 5 lbs on either side of my goal weight.  Today I am 187.

I also stayed on my 600 calorie a day plan until I hit 190.  Then I started slowly increasing calories to try and find my maintenance point.  I spent a week at 800 calories a day, then a week at 1000 calories a day, and am now at 1200 calories a day.  I have held here for 2 weeks while other factors change because of some other surgeries and not being able to exercise for a while.

Judge how you feel, Are you happy with your body and your size?  You may be at goal already - and the last 20 lbs may not matter.  IF you arenet where you want to be physically or health wise, then you may need to amp up the exercise and drop som calories to make that final push.  For me, My body knew when it was done - I just had to listen to it.

Hi friend

You know I have no advice about this, because I'm nowhere near goal yet, but I just wanted to say that you were already looking GREAT back in June. Rob may be on to something there. If you are sure you want to lose more, that's awesome too. I'm not trying to discourage you at all, just wanted to add a little perspective from someone who has seen you.

Either way, you have done a fantastic job! I have no doubt that if you really want to get those last 20 off, you'll find a way to make it happen. I hope we all get to see each other again soon

Thanks, pretty lady, you are too sweet!   I am fairly happy with where I am now, but I just broke the threshold of a healthy weight.  My goal is to try and get somewhere in the middle of the healthy range.  Your perspective definitely gives me some food for thought (sorry for the food reference, lol).

You are looking fabulous girl!  Can't wait to see you again.

No idea if changing helps.  I have changed up, but not always in a good way as bad habits have crept back in from time to time.

It does seem super slow after how things went at first.  I received encouragement here on OH that others saw a change in their weight loss pattern at this point too, which helped with my head at least.  It seems that it is not uncommon to bounce up and down a bit, and maybe only lose weight one week a month.

I'm hoping to be losing over the next 2 weeks since my hormonal switch just flipped from off from human vacuum mode.  I get 2 weeks starving and then 2 weeks not usually.

I've lost 14 pounds in the last 2 and a half months.  I lost 31 pounds in the first 31 days.  As long as things keep going the right direction.

I think it probably does help - initially, but the safest bet is probably to just stay the course because you will continue to have a calorie deficit over the long run and the weight will come off - but it's just going to take its sweet little time.

You can do this!

(if all else fails, you can join me in my decision to just lipo my whole body until i hit goal LOL)

LOVE the lipo idea!  You are awesome, girl!  We'll both just keep chipping away at it, one day at a time!

Are you exercising? You might want to consider upping the carbs and cals a bit if you are, if not then stay the course and they will come off!

I do moderately exercise.  Usually burn about 250-300 calories jogging or walking everyday.  Thanks for the tip and congrats and all your success!
