So, my husband is a firefighter and super fit, and he's been amazingly suportive through all of this.  When I needed to stop smoking, he quit using tobacco, so I wouldn't have to do it alone.  When I needed to change what I was eating, he did too.  When I needed to learn portion control, he started measuring his food, when I needed to go to the gm, he went with me.  I haven't had to do any of this alone.....until today.

Earlier this week, we found a hero run in March that my husband wants to do.  It's a 5k and obstacle course dedicated to the fire service.  So...somewhere in the back of my crazy little head, I decided I wanted to do it to.  So, I downloaded a couch to 5k app on my phone.  I didn't really say anything to anyone, and this morning, I got out and did the first workout.  By myself since I was afraid I wouldn't get all the way through it, but I did it.

I want to throw up, and I'm crying because I'm so happy I got all the way through it....but I did it!

I'm going to feel good about myself all day now!

Way to go - I think its awesome that you have such a wonderful husband, but i definitely get the satisfaction you must have gotten from getting out there and doing the workout alone.

Keep consistent and you will rocking the hero run !

I just finished my first week of the download app 10K this morning.  Its great as I can jog with no problems for one minute as this app starts out.  I will be cheering you on as we will be doing basically the same workout each week.  One thing I found that helps is stretching before and after the workout.  If I do not as I didn't today, then I am sore for the rest of the day.  Good luck.

Way to go.  I did something similar.  I started a counch to 5k app.  I run 3-045 minutes without stopping.  Just this week, I did the entire 45 minutes without getting my heart rate above maximum for the first time.  The interval training works and you will feel better than you can imagine.

Just be sure to run smart and not hard - TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.  Don't push through pain.  If you feel pain, STOP and walk the rest of that interval.

Do you have a HRM?  If not get one.  Get one with a chest strap that monitors you continuously.  IF your heart rate goes above max, stop and wal****il it recovers.  If you have a smartphone you are using they make some good HRMs that will work directly with your phone.  Wahoo makes one, and theres a couple more at the apple store.

Make sure you have some great running shoes that support your feet.  You may have to buy a couple pair a year.  Don't worry about cost with these.

Welcome to the running club with us, just please make sure you exercise smartly and dont hurt yourself.
