I am 2-1/2 weeks out and yesterday I woke up with a nasty cold.  Last night, it progressed so quickly to coughing and feeling awful, but no fever.  I haven't had a cold like this in years.  I'm wondering if my resistance is down since surgery.

Did any of you get sick after surgery?

YEP ! I went back to work after 2 weeks; ended up getting a bad cold and took another few days off to stay hydrated. Your immune system really takes a hit after with all the stress your body is being put through. This too shall pass :) Feel better.

Well, the verdict is in -- I have bronchitis.  I haven't felt this bad in years.  Came home with three prescriptions.  Really struggling to get my protein in, but I'm doing well with sipping, which is more important right now.

Just a suggestion with Bronchitis & mucous maybe drink some clear liquid protein like Isopure so you don't have even more mucous with the whey and milk !! Just sayin' feel better

I agree, clears are definitely better, so I'm drinking a lot of ice-tea-MIO flavored water today.  It goes down more smoothly than plain water.  I had some greek yogurt, so I was able to get in some protein -- I ended up the day around 40g, which isn't bad considering I am not eating much.  My stomach is so upset from the post nasal drip.

Interesting opinion -- the doctor I saw today told me that this illness can be directly related to my surgery, even though it was 2-1/2 weeks ago.  He said because of the tube down my throat during surgery, helping me breathe, that made me susceptible to air-borne illness.  Also just being in the hospital, with all of those germs floating around, was a contributing factor.  Not sure how true tihs is, but thought I'd share his opinion.

Forgot to mention that Isopure makes me gag.  It's a great source of protein, but I just can't get it down.  And with my stomach so upset right now, I wouldn't be able to even smell it without hurling.
