Got my Surgery Date

Got a call from the surgeon's office; I have my surgery date - October 17, 2012.

I am so excited, I'm shaking!

Congratulations on the surgery date!  I'm actually new to this and I am in the process of working towards a surgery date.  I'm curious how long it took most to get apporoved from their insurance company. My last 6th month appointment will be November 2nd and I'm worried we will change insurance companies on January during our enrollment period.  I am hoping if everything gets sent for approval in early November I will be able to get a surgery date in December.  I just don't want to get my hopes up.

I had my last 6-mo appointment last Tuesday.

I had the same worry about the insurance company changing. Pleasantly surprised I got a date so soon.

I felt the same way; still worried something will happen to mess up the date - a paper will be missing or something.

 Can I ask what the 6month appt is?  Is this something your insurance company required?  I just had all my tests required, other than the nutritionist eval, and am hoping to have surgery in December.  

My insurance & doctor requires me to be seen by my PCP  for 6 months prior to being able to submit everything to my insurance company for approval.

My insurance required that I meet with my PCP monthly for 6 consecutive months; had to weigh in and follow a diet (I chose Weigh****chers).  No stipulation saying I had to lose a specific amount.
