My surgery is Nov 15th, so I look forward to hearing other ideas on this...

Thus far, I have "collected" a few things to be sure I have them after surgery (if that is part of what you are asking with your question) These are all things I have gotten based on suggestions I have read here:

I have little spoons (like baby spoons, to help with smaller bites, but still feel like I am eating "normally")
A baby formula travel container that has three sections (plan to use it to take protein powder with me in my purse)
protein powder samples (I went to mybariatricpantry.com and purchased a few sets of samples as well as one other website I can't think of at the moment)
I made sure to locate my heating pad
a camelbak bottle, so i can sip all day long

I am still looking for (and happy to hear suggestions on) the following:
a good liquid vitamin
any suggestions for the most "flavorless" protien powder would be very helpful.
SF puddings
....and I am sure I will think of others!

Wellesse has a pretty tasty liquid vitamin. I am currently taking the vitamin d and chewing a multi. I didn't find that liquid vitamins were necessary. After my initial week of clear liquids I started with gummies and switch to flintstones chewables because they have iron.

All of the Jello brand SF puddings are delicious and you can probably add protein powder to them after they thicken.

For the ladies...maidenform fat free dressing (shapeware).  They are holding my Panni up nicely. I got two for 20$ at Costco.  Since I'm still losing and I have to wait for plastics this is a good filler.  It makes me look really good in clothing.  You need some type of blender, small containers, and a food scale.  I too don't have a great deal of experiance but those are two things I can think of.

My things I can't live without are:

Cottage Cheese
Torani syrups
babybel light cheese
string cheese
Tyson diced ready to eat chicken
grilled fish (I LOVE SWAI)
ready made Starkist tuna salad
fudgesicles
Yasso greek yogurt popsicles
Sirloin steak
Chicken (sometimes)
Asian pears
cheese, cheese cheese
of course my beloved Click expresso protein powder

I'm in a stall for almost a month and I am getting really frustrated.  I just gotta get back to the basics.  I have gotten down to 210.6lbs 3 weeks ago and now I hover up and down at 212.4lbs.  When is this scale going to move in the right direction??  Still LOVE my sleeve, but I'm disappointed that I won't reach my goal by December  :(

The one thing that you rarely see mentioned that I feel was my favorite early on is a cup warmer or candle warmer.  Its just a little electrical plate that keeps things warm.  Early on post surgery when it takes forever to eat just a tablespoon or two of food, you just keep your little plate/bowl or cup on that little warmer while your eating and it will keep your food warm all the way down to the last little nibble.  Makes eating so much more satisfying.  Also good for soups or teas.  Many homes have these but dont think to use them and if you dont have one they are very inexpensive to buy $5-$10 most places.

OMG! Stealing this idea!!! I eat soup all the time and it always gets cold (which I HATE so I always have to run to the microwave to nuke before I'm done). I'm almost 5 months out and sometimes this still happens. I never thought of using a mug warner, but DUH, such a simple and great thing. This is why I totally love OH!!!

Steal away!  I know from experience how valuable this is early on and yes anytime to keep food warm.  It sucks early post op when you eat so little and your food gets cold after the first 2 bites and then you have another 15 minutes or more before you finish.  Yes many trips to the microwave and by then its rubber.

I used to post this more often because I think its something every pre op/early post op should know.  Enjoy!
