Clear liquid stage and restaurant soups
Hi, all!
I'm five days post-op and in the clear liquid stage. Can anyone recommend soup from any of the national restaurant chains that I could consume in this stage? I can get take out and then strain whatever chunks out of it that I need to. Anyone, anyone?
Also, do we need to be careful about spicy things early-on? Common sense tells me yes, but I'd love to know for sure.
Thanks!
Susan

Why does the soup need to be take out from a restaurant chain?
I would say just to buy some broth or some buillon from the grocery store and make your clear liquid off of that.
As for spices, my surgeon said to just try it and pay close attention to what happened after the first bite. I have never had a problem with anything spicy with the exception of the spicy miso sauce my sushi chef used to use. Now I just don't get it. lol

I would think ordering take out is actually a lot more effort than heating up broth :)
Well. the only thing I could think of would be Chicken Noodle and just strained that.. or any other cream soups.. I just bought some cream soup today.. I just made it and strained it.. it took less than 5 minutes to do all of that.. I also bought soup from Trader Joe's. Butternut Squash or there Creamy Tomato.. No chunks in those cartons.. pour and heat.. I am not sure if there is a TJ near you but that is another option.. and if you do a whole can at a time.. you will have it for 3 meals unless someone is with you to help eat it.. I know broth is a liquid but I would think that a creamy soup strained would taste better and stay with you longer.. I am not sure about spicy things.. I haven't used any extra spices yet..

Get him to go get you a big container of wonton soup. You get the yummy broth, he gets the wontons.
My personal favourite is the minestrone soup from the Old Spaghetti Factory or from Olive Garden, but I have no idea if they'll let you buy it to take home.
