My first NSV
For those of you who know me, you may remember I have bilateral lymphedema in my calves and thighs and prior to surgery had significant swelling in my stomach as well. My surgery was Dec. 5th. As of today I have lost about 80 lbs. and had my first real NSV. Due to the extent of my lymphedema and tendon problems caused by having a bad reacation to an antibiotic several years ago, I can't walk. I still can't walk BUT today I noticed a huge change in my mobility. Getting in and out of my SUV has been a horrible experience for years. I feel unsteady and due to poor strength and balance have been known to fall flat.
I have not fallen in six weeks. Today I realized I don't feel unbalanced or unstable when getting into the SUV. I got in and out twice all by myself and didn't feel horribly overwhelmed by the process. I went grocery shopping for myself an took all the time I wanted...up and down and reaching for things and I picked out several new foods...one of which was Sweet Baby Rays beef jerky...omg...so good, but I digress...lol. Normally I would get home and be sooooo tired I would have to recover for a day or two BUT I FEEL GREAT. My pain is way down. Life is good. I have a long way to go, but today made me hopeful that while I may never walk long distances again, I am taking a few 3 or 5 steps with assistane. I love my sleeve.
